Cats have had an ageing list since 2007, and they've been, by far, the best performing team from then to 2022. They barely missed the finals in 2015. Have been in contention every other year. No other team can claim anything close to the Cat's record since 2007.

It's tough to go back to back. Look at the hype that surrounded Melbourne at the start of the year with an expected unbeaten season and GF. Geelong will probably have that hype next year. You're only as good as your last game.

Cats were so on this day. It had everything. A 3-times Hawks Premiership player in Issac Smith winning the Norm Smith with the old enemy. Dangerfield winning his first premiership and for me BOG. The absurdity of the Parfitt and De Koning goals. Tyson Stengle’s redemption and 4 class goals which probably didn’t get the attention they deserved. Cameron cashing in on the 3 first round draft picks it cost to get him. Blicavs being a match up nightmare. Selwood’s fairy tale goal finish. And the staggering dignity of Dane Rampe who despite being on the end of an absolute thrashing oozed class and recognised Selwood as a giant of the game and knowing as we all did that it was his last.

Sydney were awful no doubt about it, and as a cats fan I loved seeing my team win big. But the language that this panel is using to describe the efforts of some Sydney players is concerning. These are players who were in the second best team of the year. Yes no doubt they had a poor grand final, for some players possibly the worst of their career. But this type of extreme language is why I have stayed away from this show for ages now. Lets not forget Kane Cornes was part of the biggest ever grand final loss! Matthew Lloyd was a part of a team that choked in '99 and then got belted in '01. This type of extreme crap doesn't add anything to the analysis.

@@marze72 No. I may have been more. We beat Collingwood twice during the year. Collingwood looked out on its feet against Sydney the previous week. The main reason Collingwood got as high as they did was winning a lot of close games AKA LUCK! You got lucky. They finished 17th the previous year. So things (like the umpiring) fell your way, and their luck ran out in the Preliminary Final. Geelong would have smashed whoever we played on Saturday.

@@aucata8816 a short/narrow playing surface(SCG)means u cant play AFL like clubs do on other grounds(Linc up handballs & running it down the wing.. bit like basketball)u have to resort to 11/12 meter kicks(hope u get paid the mark)then 1 handball(or 2 max)then kick it. using a soccer ground for 36 players? is the the issue. AFL on SCG is like watching rugby.. sorry bro.. its my take on it.. they should make ground bigger..

Jack Riewoldt got another season and he kicked zero goals in the GF this year - should Richmond have waited until after the GF too? What a stupid muppet comment, Buddy kicked 52 goals this year and had a big influence in them finishing where they did on the ladder and actually making the GF. Geelong have a fantastic W/L ratio during the home and away season (70+%), when they play lots of games at Kardinya Park, but have been pretty terrible at winning finals when they have to play away (30ish %). That's what he's referencing here.

The fact that Geelong still get to play on their under 10’s training ground is an enormous advantage no other team gets. Hence their 90+ percent win rate over 15 years! No other team in the comp anywhere near that.

They chose to chase money and big crowds at the bigger venues, and gave up their home ground advantage at their suburban fortresses in doing so. They have only got themselves to blame for that.
