Putting a horse ranch in the middle of a city to keep a minority group off the streets and out of danger while also teaching them life skills. That’s the most American shit I’ve ever heard

These ranches have actually been here for decades. Compton and South Central were predominantly white back in the day and before the city exploded in population, it made sense that the previous suburbs had ranches. So no, they didn’t put a horse ranch in Compton for that reason. The ranches are already existing here and they simply made an existing one into a program.

I saw a caravan a few years back in H-town while working there and was surprised. The cops blocked off a section of the freeway so they could cross. I looked up a web ad from the side of one the wagons and to my surprise there were more of these clubs around the country than I realized including 30 miles from me in NC.

The Daily Show is just the best. I really enjoyed this. I spent time with horses when I was a kid and I can affirm what that young girl said. The absolutely most calming thing that I ever did around horses is just to gaze into their eyes. (after currying, brushing, shoveling horse apples and, of course, riding.) My takeaway from this? People are all the same and we ought to cut each other a damn break and stop judging people by how they look. Horses don't judge by how we look, they judge us by what we do. Are horses smarter than people? ;)
