yes,technically they are still married.But,physically,even the winner knows they are living like they are already divorced.It means to say,she is not happy anymore to be a wife (MRS).Because being a Mrs has to be wholesome in both a good and happy wife and a mother..I wont be joining that pageant if I was her.Claiming as still married but acting/living the life not beside with the husband.You know,guilt feelings..For the Mrs.Sri Lanka organization,amending their rules as qualifying a woman separated but not divorced sounds off too..so which is which?

But I'm questioning the basis of this separate contest as Ms. And Mrs. If the basis is that a married woman will have different perspectives and qualities, then her getting a divorce doesn't just erase those qualities she gained from the experience. And, if both the contests' qualifications are based merely on marital status, then how can Ms. Ukraine's disqualification be justified; once you are divorced aren't you 'Ms.' again, irrespective of her having a child? Does the context not matter anymore in this case?.....And that is why I asked, why are both these contexts excluding divorced women with 2 different justifications?...Bottom line is, why are such contests meant for supporting and uplifting women academically and getting them involved in global issues of importance, still measuring their qualification in an archaic basis of marital status?

I didn't know the former Mrs Beauty queen has the authority to "decide" the winner. Beauty contests are usually a test of wisdom, prudence and intelligence apart from appearance. If someone won it, it means they have been through the tests. Caroline already knew that Pushpika was not divorced but seperated. Caroline wss the one to choose 5 out of 7 judges at this pageant, and from the beginning on, legal docs were already about the civil statuses of these ladies. Caroline had played a major part and worked in/trained the ladies through out the pageant from the beginning. And this was some planned plot against the winner by Caroline and the other woman, Chula padmendra.

i'm sorry but I have to say this. Idk how this pageant works so _please enlighten me._ the 2019 title holder has no rights to do it. Yes, she's the previous holder but this kind of controversy should be _handled by the pageant management._ the way she delivers her message made her look like she's betting on the first runner up the whole time and when she found a way to dethrone Mrs. De Silva, she did it right away. Idk if it was her own words or someone instructed her to say that, but the pageant and Mrs. Jurie should say sorry to Mrs. De Silva for shaming her on live tv. They got wrong information and disclosed it right away. Very unprofessional thing to do in a pageant. This should be investigated first and foremost BEFORE the pageant.

I don't understand Why divorced women or single mothers can not be represented in beauty and be strong beautiful women and role models. That rule needs to change. All women need strong representation not just married women. Also watching two women bully another women and publicly embarrass her is not something I want to watch. Sadly the majority of the country only applaud for the things they see on the surface. They don't bother seeking the truth. If there wasn't any injustice do you think Caroline would risk her title like that? Anyone in the right mind can understand that. Corruption on these Sri Lankan beauty pageants should be stopped !! Organisers and some judges favour the winners for bribes , political connections and other unlawful benefits in most of these pageants, this should be stopped from the beginning. Caroline has been disagreeing and fighting for the right decision but looks like the organisers and few judges have gone against the rules . However the way it happened is not the right way . This is a good lesson for future pageants to not to be covered with bribes , political connections and other benefits to have a fair competition !! Although just wish that she used a different time, method and a platform to address pageant corruptions. The method she used ended up making her look like the villain and classless while the crime went unpunished. People who love justice will love Caroline..so you’re not alone..and Caroline s crown is worth the whole world as she truly won,not by manipulating or begging or bribing the judges..She won for her capabilities brain and the talents. one lady who had a backbone to come up forward and try to stop the crown when it was big time going for money .
