The trade for Garrett probably wouldn't be that high in terms of cost. The problem though, is Garrett will want a new contract after getting traded. We already are going to make Hutch the highest paid defensive player this offseason or next, then we would need give Garrett a similar contract. We simply don't have the cap space

We would still have to figure it out financially. If you're gonna be able to do that and pay Hutch, Kerby, Jamo, Barnes, and figure out who's gonna replace Carlton Davis at CB1 and a starter for Alim McNeill (injury) half the season at DT. Someone next to DJ Reader and next year is his final season. So you're gonna have to find another starting DT. I don't see it happening financially or without losing starting players that we can't replace in 26' or 27' without 1st round picks.

The problem is Garrett has no say so. The Browns would much rather have a top 10 pick and 2 2nds out of the deal instead of a couple late 1st round picks. Garrett and a 4 and 2 6s for a first and 2 2nds and a developmental player is more realistic in today's NFL

He’s actually 29 and will be 30 on 12/29/25. Better for us! And they do want better draft capital! They take our pics for later round draft pick slot relief (so they don’t have the limit on picks). They want capital for next few seasons not just 12-13 picks this year.

Give up at least 1 first round pick and pay him 37-38 million per year with an extension. That's the only way. Unfortunately for Lions, you can't pay Garrett that kind of money, when you have to pay Hutchinson the same, this off-season. The numbers simply don't work. Especially when you're paying Goff 50, Sewell at top of market, St.Brown at top of market. And they just gave Alim McNeill 100 million. You Lions fans are delusional. Sorry, but that's just the reality of it all.

The better question to ask is why doesn't LA need him.... they draft well. Detroit also drafts well. To many people talking about what we need, and don't even know what we have lol. Not a single person knows what this defense looks like healthy. We need a MG and Hutch? We don't even know what a Z and Hutch looks like. Makes way more sense to trade (Hooker/Jamo) or spend picks to move up in the draft and get whatever DE they want.
