Will Smith is the perfect example of somebody that appears to have everything - the fans, the money, and the accolades - on the surface, but he’s still a human being with his faults and insecurities. It’s time we stop worshipping these celebrities as if they’re more superior than us and start seeing them like normal people.

Will Smith has still done so much for the industry and the black community as far as kids looking up to a positive black man for most of his career, and I don't really understand why he's going through the trials right now, but I hope that people eventually leave the man alone. I haven't seen someone crucified like this in the media in quite some time. Why are people always so worried about others' personal lives? I get that maybe he shouldn't have made certain things apparent while in public, but the fallout of that is absolutely absurd!

I think for Will, he can finally be the person he wanted to be for a long time. Himself. Not the picture perfect family friendly man that the media has painted him for so long (also sucking his soul and identity away) it’s sucks to see him go down in such a way. But he’s done enough to millions of people in putting smiles in people’s faces for decades and it’s time for him to really focus on himself and his family (well… the part of family that actually still supports him)
@Hoodeeman Жыл бұрын
He curated that image for himself. He wanted to be seen in that manner to be able to play the roles in Hollywood big blockster movies. You have to have a squeaky clean family friendly, family oriented man, or at least project that to the public if you want to be in the upper echelons of Hollywood while also being black, especially in the 90s. We don't know this man at all. But we all had an image of him that fell to pieces. He even talked about it in his book (his carefully crafted image).

thank you for commenting this. He is and will ALWAYS be a legend and the reason i say this is cause he's been an actor so many of us have grown up watching. he's made us all laugh and even cry with his amazing acting skills. it clearly comes from a place of deep insecurity that he harboured all the way back when he was 15 and got cheated on. yes, he shouldn't have got on that stage and punched Chris, but at the end of the day, he's never ever done anything like that in the history of his career, and we've forgiven so many other actors and singers who have repeatedly been aggressive or straight up violent. He's forgiven in my book anyway

Will Smith wanted to be different from so many of the fake gangsta rap stars of his day, including Pac. Will was from the hood but decided to present a more positive image and stay away from most hood topics and try to create a better alternative to what so many other rappers had done - in hindsight the gangsta rap personas ended up causing a lot of damage to a lot of communities. Who would’ve guessed a bunch of wannabes and posers selling stuff to kids in the suburbs that honestly never knew a black person and knew little to nothing about other races and cultures could be so harmful. But because of this there were a ton of people who wanted Will to fail; Will wanted to be a positive black role model from the streets, he rose up from poverty and stayed positive and kept working to get ahead, and his mindset and happy attitude probably ate away at so many people who wanted to tear him down.

Will Smith didn't 'come from the rough streets of Philly'. He grew up in Wynnefield with an engineer and a school board administrator as parents and also went to a Catholic private school. Not saying that he's had no experience with the streets but he was far removed from the life of those that grow up in the rough streets of Philly. I think people believe that because he plays himself in the Fresh Prince of Bel Air but the story is actually based on the life of Benny Medina who grew up in the rough streets of East L.A. and later moved in with a family in Beverly Hills.

Whatever has gone on in recent years no one can take away the man’s talent, dedication and work ethic. The Fresh Prince has been shown across the world to several generations and He and Jazzy Jeff are solidified in Hip Hop culture. Unfortunately his reputation has been sullied by those around him putting his private life on blast and why he did that ‘entanglement’ Red Table Talk I’ll never understand but the public are fickle and people will move on. The rumours about his sexuality has been around since he did Six Degrees of Separation. The way his ‘friend’/ex-assistant demeaned him in such a derogatory way referencing the size of his manhood and exactly what him and Duane were supposedly doing has most people side eyeing and questioning the integrity and motives of his so called ‘friend’ more than Will’s sexuality. Personally I think Will has put in the work that he will be able to withstand this latest attempt at humiliation.
@EliteBlackSash Жыл бұрын
Can’t help but thinking what the story would be if Will had a wife like Pauletta Washington. Denzel talks about the ways his wife supported him through the toughest of internal battles. But, more importantly, the way younger actors and actresses speak about their household and how they have supported others when they were living in their car and just struggling to make it. The importance of strong family and a solid unshakeable support system becomes obvious. I see the same in Kanye post- his mother passing. I think Will would be even BIGGER and even MORE successful, and more importantly… much happier.

Only the typical toxic HipHop/'gangster' mentality will come up with such a title and video. I bet 'Hit Em Up' didn't ruin Tupac's life. Oh, no way. Since he died at 25, he's cemented and untouchably successful, right? But, a guy does a show in his youth that reignited his career and eventually puts him on track to being the biggest movie star, stays alive, and, yeah, goes through some recent controversy, so, guess what: the show all the way from the 90s ruined his life. Enjoy making it makes sense.
