Excellent discussions guys. The discussion has become psychological even: parents who have grown in a bygone era trying to advise the Gen Zs whose environment into which they are born and grown is completely different. Therein lies the contradiction!

My father gave me total freedom at very early age unlike my siblings... but after a time, I came to understand that his total freedom was within a cocoon encircled by his authority... I had to put him in " so vulnerable" space in a rebellious way, although it forced into exile for few years, but when I returned "home" everybody including my father new that I had actualized my dream world and I have for ever lived in my own rules...

I like Mwangi analogy: let us pick the fruits on the ground now and when need for "ladder" to reach high up fruits, "we the people" will design our "ladder" and then use it...Gen Zs must jump into this bandwagon...

Mzungu grandmother here, with 2 Kenyan sponsor kids in their late teens and early twenties. One has a degree and no job and is doing casual work. The youngest in university. We have talked about corruption and its consequences for 12-13 years and the Finance Bill was the symbol of decades of corruption and the odious debt. I fully support their protests. And I support whoever is taking part in the protests. I am concerned for the lives of all protesters. But this simply cannot be another aborted opportunity for lasting change.

Mama I agree with you. Kenyan leaders live in a parallel world. I went to the market the other day, and a group of young men who had probably woken up at 0500 am surrounded me, each one of them pleading with me to carry my shopping for maybe sh50. I looked at them and the nightmare they live through hit me. They are hardworking children, who through the day plead with markekt goers , not to get free things, but some sort of work. I thjnk majority come, stand there the whole day and go back with nothing. For them, is life worth living? The elite will call them lazy, useless and all to escape the responsibility. In my view, capitalism does not produce the best, but midiocre people seeking power. That is how we have come to where we are.

@@dkblack1289 Thanks for your reply. I don’t think Kenya’s problem is a -ism problem. It is a structural problem. And a cultural one. I suppose I am trying to say that the youth (and many, many other Kenyans) don’t need funding to feel that something needs to change. Fix what has been demanded and Kenya will be a truly great country.

All politicians whether in government or the opposition are scared stiff of the new dispensation being ushered in by the Gen-zee. A dispensation of zero tolerance on corruption which will even affect the largely corrupt multinational companies that are fleecing our country under the protection of the political class. Fagilia wote! #Anguka nayo!

Now there lived in that city a man poor but wise, and he saved the city by his wisdom. But nobody remembered that poor man. So I said, “Wisdom is better than strength.” But the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded.

@Zack-w3r We have been deprived of leaders worthy of the title. These we have are no leaders... They are gangs scrambling for the spoils of war. Rutto ain't no leader.. Uhuru was no leader..He couldn't even lead his family. Perhaps Kibaki came close to being one. What have these guys lead before? All we have are brokers and prosperity pastors pretending to be leaders

Paul Mwangi could not have anticipated the Gen-Z reaction because he lives in a parallel universe. Boss, wake up one day, very early and go to the market or places where these young people are likely to get some work. They willl come to you pleading to carry your luggage. They are not asking you for your money, they just want to have a chance to earn something. It a daily nightmare. If you have the ntellectual capacity, sir, you will see people who feel that they are better dead than living, but then, when you live in a parallel universe, you exhibit someone who was able to escape poverty and tell the rest, why can't you. Then you conclude, case settled. Finally, we have to change tact, and realise that America is in deep shit because its system is run by lawyers while China is the wonder it is because it is run by engineers.

Clamor for good governance has started at the wrong place, bottom up it should start in schools where the law has banned caning. All laws and policies should start with the way the weakest members of society are attended. Stop caning children in schools.

The main reason why we are where we are is because RUTO was not and is not going to implement the constitution because he never supported it. GEN Z S and other Kenyans want the constitution implemented. Raila after having been compromised lost his wisdom and the vision he had in his cause fir fighting for Kenyans and that is why he was trying to save the Person who is not ready to work for Kenyans BUT for his foreign Masters who planted him into power.

Boss, Kenya was destroyed long time ago! And it did not start with Ruto. Gen Z just want to correct the mess that the people before did or allowed to happen. And you should join them, if your children are to have even half a chance to survive during their time. Tafakari, kaka! .
