Really hope they would add more gods later, such as Artemis, Hephaestus and Hermes. All were mentioned in the Illiad. It makes sense since Artemis was worshiped in coastal areas of Asia Minor, and her brother Apollo was the protector of Troy itself. She could improve ranged units and add Amazons, Hephaestus could buff arms and armor, and Hermes movement speed, or diplomacy.

Artemis isnt necessary since Apollo is responsible for archers so we may consider praing to Apollo as praying to both siblings. But Demeter, Hermes, Hephaistos and Dionizos should be considered since they had very specific specializations (maybe except Dionizos)

I'm honestly really looking forward to a "realistic fantasy" take like this. I'm okay with like legendary characters and figures being represented as big bads on the battlefield (basically Heroes and Generals from TWW), cause that's cool. It's the main reason why I liked 3K as much as I did, it was cool and fit the bill. Shogun 2 and Rome 2 are still my GOAT TWs, but I really do welcome this twist and think I woulda liked them even more if they had this at the time. I just kinda wish they didn't hold back as much as they did. Like I don't want a magic system (besides maybe god blessing which are 1-off army wide effects with short durations) nor do I want a minotaur army... but honestly I'm kinda sad that the Mino and Cy are just really buff dudes with skull helmets. They're already restricted to 1x on the map, period, no reason to cap them even harder imo

Hera did not hold domain over the home and the hearth was hestia. A less god who once was one of the big 12/13 (depending on the reading) she gave her place up to Dionysus so as to not cause a civil war between the gods again. After this she faded into obscurity.

I don't see this going very far. They tried to appeal to both sides by adding fantasy elements to a historical title. The historical fans won't be happy due to the unrealistic essentially magic of the gods and hero units. The fantasy players won't be interested because they aren't going all-in on the mythology. You can't have your cake and eat it too, Dawn of War III style.

If they had made a purely historical game with the divine system having no supernatural abilities, that would have been fine if limited. If they had made Total War: Age of Mythology with magical creatures, hero units and the gods slinging spells on the battlefield TWW style, that woul also have been fine - heck, I'd say a lot of people would love that even more. They seem to have made a hybrid that might end up not pleasing enough people on either side. I think the Sofia studio wanted to do more but just didn't have the resources and they had to scale it down pretty hard.

i hoped that they treat god's favor as a consequence of your action.. Like, you gain Ares's favor from killing enemy, from choosing the "execute" option after battle, from fighting many wars at the same time, and maybe from using his units (whatever that are). Some gods may have similar interests (Athena's favor, for example, could be gain from good K/D ratio), while others have conflicted goals (Aphrodite? may prefer a peaceful playstyle, and Athena may dislike fighting two war at the same time). instead, we have some button clicking like in Rome Imperator.. kinda expected, but also kinda disappointed..

@@sigurdtheblue Depends on which time period you're using, the Gods position wasn't static, to the Greeks of the time, this was very real, and Olympus was like a heavenly soap opera. Hestia "gave up" her place on Olympus for Dionysus, for example, and is therefore regarded as an Olympian..and also not one. Likewise Helios and Apollo become conflated and then separated at various time periods.

@@codybonds I think it might be alright but it just looks really bland and while bland doesn't have to be bad, Thrones still was kind of a nightmare and that one wasn't given away for free. Maybe campaign might be okay who knows

Okay but why does CA still give the player a bonus to attrition damage as a buff when the AI still ignores attrition? Attrition buffs shouldn't be in the game if the AI isn't even going to follow the same rules as the player. IT's the most useless "feature" in a total war game.

AI doesn't ignore attrition, in Shogun 2, if the AI attack during winter they lose troop, same for Rome 2. In warhammer it is even worse for the AI if they attack a settlement surrounded by corruption. The only thing the AI get is increased replenishement, like 2 turn after leaving the zone of attrition they are back to full health.

I don't understand why ppl are trashing this game, which has not even be released yet...., but let move on from that. We already have a fantasy game, Warhammer 2, which is an awesome game, so why want more of the same type. Historical titles are also wanted by the community and when we compare Rome 2, Attila, ToB and 3K these games are no where near in the same league as WH2, so lets have a good game for historical fans, like me. Saying this i will also state that i love WH2. I mentioned 3K, although the game is cool it lacks diversity, the dlc are pretty much the same thing, still hoping they will add regions to the vietname region since the area is in game already

..... hmmmm finally something impressive from total war Troy. Still very angry and disappointed in the fact that the textures don’t look that good and the fact that it’s on the epic game store. However I do like this mechanic of the game.
