This rivalry will never die. It may not have the same luster if both teams are not fighting each other for 1st place. When they meet as a fan want them to bludgeon each other.

Nah it will never be the same for different reasons… 1 they broke the curse which was one of the biggest factors (besides being in the same division) but also other than 1on1 beefs baseball is a lot friendlier not too many players hate other players the way the yanks and Sox players hated eachother back then

This rivalry was riveting theater when I was a kid. Must see television. Every time they faced eachother there was a buzz in the air. Unfortunately it hasn't felt that way in over a decade now.

the players legit used to hate each other. Now you get the sense they don't really care or have a lot of loyalty to the city they play in usually.

It has its cycles. The early 2000's was a time when both teams were evenly matched and battled for the pennant. When that happens again, the intensity will pick up.

Agreed. Really just need both teams to operate functional, rather than whatever’s happened the last few years

Yes, but it's not as exciting knowing that your team is in last place and is not a contender in the division

@@kyh336did players hate each other in the 1940s? There was a rivalry bc the teams were good. Hatred is not needed. The only time these teams actually hated each other was the 1970s. Every year since, they’ll beef if there some hit by pitches or hard slides…. But it’s a lot harder to have the hatred of the 1970s when players don’t stay with one team forever

So I’d say as far as the fact that they’re both awful rn, yes it’s dead. However to us fans, that rivalry runs deep. Even in the navy, my CO is a Red Sox fan and we talk massive amount of shit to each other during baseball season . So for the fans, it’s alive and well
