As a Greek, I have to admit that we succumbed to the pressures of EU and the “West”, our leaders are spineless. Of course the church and some of the people tried to oppose the passing of that law, but they failed. Now we have woke propaganda everywhere in our media. I want to add some insight to the gay marriage situation in Greece. First of all it is not a religious marriage but a civil one, meaning the local mayor rules over the procedure (won't call it a ceremony). Secondly, there were other means for gay people to enjoy the legal benefits of being married such as a notarial act that considered them married for tax and inheritance matters. So the actual problem was the children gay couples wanted to have. Since a same sex couples can't have both parties being the biological parents of a child either with a surrogate mother or not, the child of one spouse had to be adopted by the other. This wasn't possible though because as they weren't deemed as married so the courts wouldn't accept the adoption of a minor from the companion of the biological parent. So with this new law the children of one spouse born during wedlock or whatever are automatically considered biological children of the other spouse.

As a proud orthodox Greek, I don't think this is a predicament. It's a law that's enforced on political wedding, not a church wedding. It's just papers. I don't like that this wasn't treated with more care for the people's opinion, since the government knows what most Greeks's position is. But, as long as these things stay out of the church itself, I'm okay with it. Now, if this was about church marriage, I would revolt, not mentioning that it would never pass. Remember guys, homosexuality is a sin, it's not a curse like we make it out to be.
