Quentin Tarantino: “This was my attempt at How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Unfortunately the executives at Universal were not too pleased with the film’s cut due to the gratuitous scenes of blood and violence. I told them that the bloodshed and violence was a metaphor for the commercialization of Christmas and how we as a society have been desensitized by the idea of giving presents to each other while continuing to give money to the companies that make these products as a way to stabilize the corporate greed in our country. The other thing that they didn’t like about my film was Martin Short’s portrayal of The Grinch which led them to replace him for Jim Carrey. The only positive note that I received from them was that Lucy Liu was a badass as the sword-slinging sister of Mary Lou-Hoo and I should have used her for one of my other projects. I took that note to heart and had her played that character again for Kill Bill Volume 1 as O-Ren Ishii. Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year!”

So those sketches exist, and have never been seen by anybody except the members of that one live audience. They should release those sketches. No matter how bad they are.

If they post it on youtube, that means it was meant to air, but they couldn't because of time. Because they always have a lot of sketches that never see the light of day. The dress rehearsal is over 2 hours long. So every week they're cutting 30-40 minutes of sketches that will never see the light of day. I think the reason they posted this one online, was because they fully intended to air it, but a few of the sketches went longer than expected. It looks like they spent a lot of money on it, and they got a celebrity cameo for it. So they didn't want this to go to waste.
