Thank you for this video. As a girlie girl, I know nothing of engines (or anything else) on how a vehicle works, but am trying to learn. This is a great explanation of how the heater works.

So that’s why the heat or air isn’t really ‘effective’ when you turn it on right after starting.. the coolant doesn’t kick on until the engine reach 195 degrees! Finally get it. Awesome stuff man.

Looking this up because my radiator fan died and my car overheated I can’t afford a new fan rn but I learned that the heat comes from your engine so keeping my heater on full blast highest temperature and air circulation off been keeping my engine at normal temperature

Some people say the main reason the TFI fails is due to heat. I know the thermal paste helps transfer the heat, but the module is still under the cap. Would it possibly make sense to mount the TFI on a bigger heatsink mounted externally to the firewall? I believe GM 96-97 models are mounted externally and I'm considering modifying my setup and try a 4 pin external TDI. What do you think? BTW, very helpful information, you explain it very well. Thank you!

Its not just the heat itself, its the fact that it goes hot and cold again and again and thats called the thermal stress. This problem is just a oversight by the manufacturers.

I was trying to find out why my heat on my passenger side of my car is lukewarm. I replaced all the actuators but it didn’t help I think I will try a heater core flush in the spring.

So my A.C stops working. Light is on but no air comes out. Also no heat. I hit a bump a few days later my A.C and heat work again. Could this be my A.C compressor? Is my interior heater also connected to the A.C compressor?

Does the thermostat control coolant flow to the internal heater radiator or does the internal heater controls instantly let cool/cold coolant flow through the heater radiator? I'm thinking of adding a hot coolant storage tank on my car and I think the heater loop may be a good place as the valve is already controllable.

I have a Saturn SL1 2002, i'm having trouble with the heat. The fan motor is running perfectly, but I have very low blowing power inside the car. When I put it on air recirculation the air power is perfect, I can feel the blow is normal. Very strange. I thought I had could simply clean the cabin filter, but apparently there is none on this car. Any advice ? Thanks

Ty for showing me how my heater works! Im trying to figure out why I get a really rich gas smell when yhe heater is on, but is fine when the a/c is on. I noticed since that started happening my mpg has taken a hit. But there isnt a visible fuel leak anywhere.

No dual control, Hot air coming out of driver's side vent but cool air coming out of passenger side when heater is on. I was thinking about blockage but if there is some kind of blockage then would would cool air come out of passenger side, there should not be any air coming out then. any idea any oe?

Does the heater valve control both the inlet and outlet of the heater core? If this is the case i assume the heater core will always have coolant in it? Thanks

Hey man...if you block the coolent from goint to the heater will it affect the engine in anyway? Like increasing the pressure inside or something
@helojoeywala6622
@helojoeywala6622 Жыл бұрын
No it wont because the excess coolant will just sit in the coolant tank also why would you block the connection letting the coolant go to the heater core

Does the heater slows down the engine? Does the heater consume gas like the aircon?
@ashtonadams1145
@ashtonadams1145 6 жыл бұрын
The fan on the heater core is not a power take off (PTO) so therefore it does not increase the load on the engine like an A/C compressor would
@mac-donaldduru6687
@mac-donaldduru6687 5 жыл бұрын
No it doesn't consume gas like the aircon because it is just passing the heat from the engine through a blower motor into the car, while the aircon requires more power to regulate the temperature of the air i.e cold air and therefore consumes more gas.

Drives me crazy when someone in the car will try and get hot air the minute the engine is started and you end up with freezing cold air blown on you for a few minutes. Much better to wait for the engine to warm up.
