Good review on that also noticing the guns on that movie could look into the Arisaka rifle and also Maxim machine gun variants though for that part it was the Type 24 Heavy Machine gun and PM 1910 though highly doubt it was used aroound the time anyway really can have a look there. Also other topics you can look into could be the Mosin-Nagant bolt action rifle, 1903 Springfield rifle, DSHK and Browning M2 Machine guns, Stinger and SA-7 Missiles, MANPADs, DDT, MI-24 Hind helicopters, AH-1 Cobra, MIG's of Korea and Vietnam, RPG-7, RPD LMG, AK-47 and it's variants and still really a whole lot out there.

I mostly remember this movie for the main plot: which is about twin sisters who are separated as infants. One remains with their pro-Japanese father, while the other joins an independence faction, then as adults they meet and accidently swap places. It reminded me so much of an animated movie I was shown very early in school, which I now assume was an adaptation or inspired by The Prince and The Pauper, and this movie likely did the same.

I think a good pair of Korean movies that kinda go hand in hand are both The Man Standing Next and 12.12 The Day

It was a fun movie to watch. Lots of old classic guns, lots of action and gunfights and a little complicated but fairly bearable plot.

Watching a movie in two or three chunks so that you have time to reflect more deeply on elements of the film is such an intellectual tier practice. Good on ya! However, tere are of course, several reasons why watching the thing in one sitting is desirable such as getting the full weight of it and noticing more subtle details in work; or it could be a straightforward action film where you need to keep feeling the pressure! I just think that with streaming making it so easy to pause/resume/reverse movies, it can have a ton of advantages.

Tells you what I know as i was’t aware Korea head been annexed by Japan. I’d only heard of the conflict between Japan and China.

I wish cinema focused more on the occupation of Korea it hasn’t been explored much and seems like a mysterious topic. We will truly never know what occurred there on a deeper level. Especially in Manchuria

There's no reason for the Japanese Empire to occupy Korean soil and protectorate, that was a Force Treaty 1907 signed. Imagine the Korean Empire survived..

A part of history that I, and probably the vast majority of westerners know almost nothing of. I've only done some light reading and watched one 14 hour documentary of Chinese history, yet i am by far the most educated on the history of amyone i know. Now add the complex intermix of sweeping events involving Korea and Japan..it is obvious how many opportunities for learning are on offer!

The people who fought against Japan went on to form North Korea while the people who worked and collaborated with Japan went on to be put in charge of South Korea by the Americans because they were used to fighting the freedom fighters in charge of the North. I am honestly shocked SK made this movie because if you know the history it paints the North in a good light.

At that time, many resistance forces were typically divided into two main categories. Socialist or communist forces supported by the Soviet Union, or forces that did not follow its ideas. Communist resistance forces settled in the northern part of the Korean Peninsula where Soviet troops were stationed to disarm Japan, and others gathered in the south where US troops were stationed. In the process, the forces that cooperated with Japan were naturally expelled from power in North Korea because they had anti-communist ideas. However, they were actively employed by the United States because they had an anti-communist and elite education. As a result, there are issues related to it, which are still controversial in Korea today.
