One interesting fact is that Cornbrook only opened in 1999, it was purely built to serve as an interchange station for the Eccles line (and at one time served as another terminus station using its island third platform, which is now disused and occupied by a Metrolink portocabin used by the tram drivers). But after much demand, street access from Cornbrook Road was then eventually implemented into the station a couple years later.

The only tram I've been on that wasn't in a museum was the Edinburgh tramway for a few days

cmon just build that 100th station already we're waiting

The two major flaws with this system is that if anything happens at Cornbrook the whole network is effectively cut in half. Also journeys between the towns, eg, Bury to Oldham requires travelling into the centre and out again. The system could really use a circle line.

The new map irritatingly has East Didsbury and the Airport the wrong way around!

I loved the tram when it went from Oldham Mumps to Freehold, without those three extra stops that adds 5-7 minutes to the journey. It's a shame they ruined it. I loved every second of the original Oldham Mumps spot. I'm hoping there's a future orbital tram, like the one I've seen on Google, where the tram goes from Oldham to Ashton and then Ashton to Stockport with Stockport linking with East Didsbury. This would be an actual game changer for people wanting to get to Ashton from Oldham and Rochdale, without having to go through Manchester city centre. The only thing I see happening is Stockport extension from Didsbury. But I'm not sure if they'll make a link with Ashton from Stockport. But I think they should. If I had to choose one, I'd choose Oldham to Ashton. It would take 10 minutes, rather than 80 minutes or 20 minutes on the bus. Let's hope it happens one day

@@finbarpower2325 not really. There was a smarter way to add the stops. They didn't need to completely get rid of the original Oldham mumps that lead to Freehold, which was one stop away. But that's what they did. They could have kept mumps where it is and have the Derker tram, lead to Oldham Central or Oldham King Street. One or the other. Or both. It doesn't matter. Then lead to Westwood, which would then lead to Freehold. They could have kept the Oldham Mumps to Freehold as a shorter option. For those needing to get to the city centre faster from Rochdale and Oldham and vice versa. There was no need to completely demolish the original Oldham mumps. This is just one option. The other option could have been keep the old original line, have two stops instead of three. One stop behind Matalan, which is also next to sainsburys. That would have been walking distance to either sainsburys and town, or Alexandra retail park. The following stop could have been Westwood, but just after where the tram bends into towards Freehold. That would have saved metrolink millions of pounds

That’s a lot of changes for such a short time. I think the worst transport system map I have seen is the SEPTA one for Philadelphia.
