I disagree with looking for cultural fit as a solution. In fact, I think its the opposite. I genuinely wanted to build 2 companies up but the culture was so bad its hard to change from my vantage point. the culture was more of respect that doing the right thing. You know what. I was given an IR for saying things specifically multiple times "Customer Impact" and "Financial Impact" It has to be top down. Pride gets in their way and Hubris has taken a hold of their heads. This should be matching the original culture or the required culture. More often than not I found the task to change the culture. The company I last tired this with said "customer first" as their core value. I left. They are waiting for the government push and funding.

I've actually worked for a couple of start up companies - one was a tech start-up, the other was a subscription-based retail business that sold monthly boxes of goodies. Both seemed like promising ideas at first, and at first they did experience success. But the common mistakes I saw were the following: 1) They tried to grow too fast, too soon. This is problematic because the expenses incurred to grow the business accelerates much faster than the growth of the business. 2) They were too lenient on their staff. They never held their staff accountable for not achieving goals. The managers were trying to be "hip and trendy" by letting the staff manage themselves. 3) They ruined relationships with vendors by not paying on time.

dude that does not make sense cause if its over its over, seeing when its over and restructuring/quitting to be able to start again makes more sense at stage 5... I counceled a few companies in the last years and for 3 of them it was clear they are done cause they didnt have the tools, staff and vision to go ahead, they should have actually never tried to do it... cause their foundation was already bad, so i advised their boards to cut their losses, close their current companies and reopen with the right setup, they continued and all 3 are out of business... All 3 of them never had a profitable month and just lifed from the owners money for a few years...

@@WarnerDawg As you are asking a counter question instead of understanding my point it is not hard to guess where you stand... That said to answer your question, I was managing operations for a few service related businesses with 7 digit profit margins, stabilized a failing startup and currently am in the process of the product and launch of a new startup where i have full decision authority, when i talk about not doubling down on errors, it is based on what i have seen. It is cheaper and more healthy to cut your losses and enable a recovery phase where your worries are less. In my field I am able to understand what a company needs to be able to function in that field and success and failure are very easy to track... Chasing losses and doubling down, is gamblers behaviour and burns more people badly then a controlled exit with a short recovery and planning phase for the maybe next venture. If you have daily operations that are dissfunctional and you got to the breaking point what makes you think you turn it around now if you could not do it earlier, if you would know how you would not be there in the first place.

5 stages: 1. Hubris born of success: becoming entitled to success 2. Undisciplined pursuit of more: selling too many products/services. 3. Denial of risk and peril: management stops discussing company problems. 4. Grasping for Salvation: management repeatedly acts in desperation rather than returning to fundamentals. 5. Capitulation to irrelevance or death: management acts in fear; morale tanks; employees quit.

Boom 💥, you said it , actually you said many things that resonated with me . Back in my days 1990 , I was young , arrogant and greedy for money 💵, a recipe for disaster. I remember telling my dad once after an argument “What did you have at my age” …… if I could only take back those words. 😢 . I was green in the business world 🌎 but learnt the hard way . I turned 100k into several mill. Years later watched the bank take everything…… only the shirt on my back. My lessons learnt ? 1)Don’t be too greedy . 2)Don’t be arrogant . 3)Listen and learn . 4)NEVER forget the basics , what made you money in the beginning. 5)Read .

It's tricky when success is hitting, money coming in, things are in flow and it's like damn, we did it and not to let it change you in a negative way. The biggest negative switch is the fear of loss which manifests in scarcity and a loss of faith in the vision. Easiest way to let that go is to be present and focus on service to others in the here and now. Ultimately the business is a reflection of the one who created it, elevate your consciousness and your business will mirror that development.

*THIS STORY WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE* *Struggling will make you stronger* 💪🏻 Once upon a time, a man found a butterfly that was starting to hatch from its cocoon. He sat down and watched the butterfly for hours as it struggled to force itself through a tiny hole. Then, it suddenly stopped making progress and looked like it was stuck. Therefore, the man decided to help the butterfly out. He took a pair of scissors and cut off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily, although it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings. The man thought nothing of it, and he sat there waiting for the wings to enlarge to support the butterfly. However, that never happened. The butterfly spent the rest of its life unable to fly, crawling around with small wings and a swollen body. Despite the man’s kind heart, he didn’t understand that the restricting cocoon and the struggle needed by the butterfly to get itself through the small hole were God’s way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings to prepare itself for flying once it was free. I Love You 💕

Type of people #3 There are those that like the job and the challenge, but there are those that are only in it for accolades and pay. Those people sell themselves as being interested in the job and are not involved in achieving targets, but believe it is their job to enforce the targets. They are usually very narcissistic and are constantly conflicting with those that love the job who understand the job, not just targets. They never call up the experienced people and ask for ideas of how they can achieve targets, they just drum up a number, sell it to their boss and chest beat. I have seen this cause major catastrophe at jobs and even end the company.
