Stock vs stock they're a lot more HP than a mx5, granted Phil has a turbo. There's a big aftermarket for Minis. They can be made fast. Don't let the cuteness fool you. They're great especially the first gen (2000-2006). I was shocked the first time I drove one.

The instructors use a form of short speak on track to allow for quicker responses to hazards, that's why they say gas, instead of accelerate. When they say fast car approaching, they are saying that a faster car is trying to pass.

Well it's a pretty bad joke. Especially when you consider that a Mini Cooper S is quicker than many small cars available to buy. Especially when you consider that certain Minis, such as the Mini Cooper JCW, are actually very fast around the nurburgring (ranked 247 of all cars around the nurburgring (fastestlaps.com/tracks/nordschleife), 8mins:28secs. Roughly the same time as a Porsche 911 Carrera (993), a Nissan Skyline GTR V-SpecII, and a BMW M5 (E39). Faster than a Lotus Exige (8:32), a Porsche Boxster (8:36), and a Honda NSX 3.2 (8:38). Meanwhile the MX5 isn't even in the top 300. MX5s are not fast. They are fun to drive, but they are not fast.

+Jake Gladman it rained a few hours earlier and whilst driving home from the gym with my friend we did some slides. So when we went on the omramp for the motorway i tried it again but it was really patchy. Clutch kicked it and the car started to slide but i hit a dry patch and gripped up. The car shot to the right and all i could do was mash the brakes but all wheels locked up and we ended up against a "small" tree. Friend had some marks from his seatbeld as he could not brace himself against anything. Everything was fine after a checkover in the hospital thankfully. Car was scrap though, the motor did turnover but the front of the car was atleast 50cm shorter. We even made the local news :/

I remember my car had a massive oil leak. I felt a huge loss of power and fuel economy etc. Later on realised that my injector was leaking and the oil sump pan was cracked! I fixed it now and the car feels fine now. Hope you can get your car back & fix it too!
