I kinda prefer the idea of an actual hybrid. To me that was much more unsettling than just a ‘human shaped chrysalis’. Basically a nastier and more interesting take on the ‘Newborn’ concept from Resurrection. Or the pre-morphs from Covenant. And VERY much in line with Weyland-Yutani’s ambitions for weaponization

I like that they went with it looking more human because ultimately monsters that appear more human are much more unsettling than something that looks less human

I wonder if the Newborn from Alien resurrection could have mutated further in a form that looks more like your typical Xenomorph? That creature was still an infant. It was alive for at most maybe 20 minutes. Had it lived it might have developed further.

The offspring adds a decent element of horror, but if it's meant to be a step toward the Wey-Yu "perfect employee", that is a human capable of dwelling in the harsh conditions of outer space and on mining colonies established on other planets I'm confused. Xenos have that "signature aggression", as we've seen. I don't buy that the offspring should have become a xenomorph per se, that would defeat the stated purpose. Or else the Prometheus Fire project was only in its beginning stages, with experimentation on Kay being Rook's first stab at trying out the effects of the compound on humans.

Also, the offspring isn't dead. It had the tubes on its back, just like a xenomorph. So casting it into space would make it emit that slime that would cause a cocoon to go around it, putting it in hibernation, just like with the xenomorph that Ripley ejected into space and was later recovered still alive.

I just realized watching this video that the offspring's tail is growing as it's feeding on its mother. Makes you wonder what else would happen if it kept feeding

Weyland Yutani is in a race against time to learn as much as they can about the Xenomorph before humanity faces the Xenomorph's real creators; probably, WY is doing the wrong things for the right reasons. I would not be surprised if the xenomorph creators are something like the aliens in the movie Species.

I feel as though the offspring shouldn't have become a xeno but remained something different like it's own hybrid species this uniqueness is what keeps me intrigued 🤔!!!!

I love that winged version. I don’t think it would work in this situation and much prefer a hybrid that doesn’t grow much further beyond what we got in the movie. The idea of some kind but the winged version very much works for me as another variant of of the xenomorph like the one we get in Alien 3 though I’m not sure how we would get to that without some tinkering from our company friends. I’d prefer it coming from another world inhabited by other non sentient species.

Something I keep coming back to is the gestation of the Alien in what seemed to be a remote chrysalis. That scene just felt… a little too abstract and in my mind - actually diminished the terrifying autonomy the killing machine used to have from infancy. However, perhaps this was a foreshadowing device, as Disney are soooo intent on Lore Building every franchise to death… but I digress. What IF this is a stage instigating by the re-engineered Black Goo to ensure growth is not hindered. Like wise, if we follow the same logic for the Offspring birthed from the same substance - the human womb is the ovomorph; the Offspring is the chrysalis / grub phase (hence its white colouration; see the development stages of scarab beetles). If so, just imagine what that final metamorphosis would involve and how that would be visualised on-screen. That in itself would be a gut wrenching and horrifying transformation that might just rescue this continuing franchise from the mediocrity we have experienced for oh-so long - harking back to its full glory as a true body horror!

From what I read they are trying to reverse engineer the black liquid. They wanted to see if the black stuff came from the engineers them self. Looks nothing like a human, but a lot like a engineer

The Offspring was nothing more than a Goo Monster, not a Xenomorph. The Insert from Ridley Scott crap. So to lean in to Scott writing, it's a Xenomorph Skin suit a Twisted cheap imitation of a Xenomorph but nowhere Near and Perfect as a Real actual Xenomorph. There are 2 separate things that still don't hold up to its original.

Not Sure! This one almost beheaded the android like the engineers did to another android called David, this is uncharacteristic of Xenomorphs, who almost see David a family!

The offspring wasn't human and xenomorph. It was engineer and xenomorph. If you dig into the lore, you'll understand that the engineers would implant serum minus the xenomorph pathogen into a human host and have it give birth to an engineer because they didn'thave femalesand couldn'treproduce naturally. The reason the offspring is part engineer and part xenomorph is because the scientists who were trying to isolate the engineer. DNA genome didn't fully remove the xenomorph pathogen from the solution. Romulus digs into that if you look at the carvings. Or drawings, wherever you want to called them. They had the engineers in 2 different factions. One that wanted to seed life in their image on planets and ones that tried to destroy the offspring of that seeding of planets. The solution at the beginning of Prometheus isn't the black goo. IIt's the blood of the engineer God which resembles a xenomorph.

This movie was a real shit And the ending scene was so stupid and ridiculous that I wanted leave the cinema... but I was with a person (that I invited to watch the movie) so I had to swallow this garbage to the very end
