How the Phoenix Suns QUIETLY Owned the NBA Offseason

The Phoenix Suns have been winners of the NBA offseason. After trading for superstar Kevin Durant last season, the Suns new owner Mat Ishbia continued his NBA title pursuit for the franchise. Phoenix traded Chris Paul to the Wizards in exchange for Bradley Beal. The Suns’ new core of Durant, Devin Booker, Beal, and DeAndre Ayton is one of the best in the entire league but they are also one of the most expensive teams in the NBA. But credit the Phoenix Suns’ front office for acquiring solid role players on cheap contracts. They added veterans Eric Gordon, Yuta Watanabe, Keita Bates-Diop, Drew Eubanks and even unicorn Bol Bol.
The Lakers signed Anthony Davis to an extension, Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets are still looking good in the West as the defending champs, and Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks have made solid moves as well. But the Suns look like big winners of free agency and the 2023 offseason so far. But can the Phoenix Suns win an NBA championship with their new core? Pressure time for Dame Time? The NBA season is still a few months away but in this video, we’ll look into why the Suns can actually benefit from the addition of Bradley Beal and how the front office have lowkey owned the offseason.

@@gojohnny100Nuggets main players have played many seasons together and are the reigning champs so they should not be discounted as the favorite to their own succession. But they’ve also taken a step back by letting Brown go and not replacing him with a player his caliber. In the meantime the Suns have significantly upgraded their roster and will have more run/juice after a training camp and playing together for more than a few games. I’d say Suns and Nuggets are clear favorites to take over the West. On the other side I’d say it’s obviously Celtics, Bucks and maybe Heat depending on how it goes with Dame…

Great video! Really love the watanabe, eubanks, bates-diop and goodwin signings/trade. These guys work hard, defend well and are exactly ehat they need to complement the stars. KD is yet another year older. Ayden is soft! No wing defender or PG! They have a scoring but no defense!

Nuggets in 5. Lakers in 6. Warriors in 6. Clippers in 7(healthy Kawhi). Suns did not address their defensive issues. Their two wins against Denver in last year's playoffs were because of Booker scoring 42ppg shooting an otherworldly 79% from the field , and Durant with 38ppg. They won by 7 and 5. They lost the other games by 18, 10, 16 and 25. If you invest everything on your offense and nothing's falling for you, it will be hard for you to win games if the other team is good on both ends. Their best 5 down the stretch this season would include 6'3" Beal, 6'3" Gordon and 6'5" Booker. That's BBQ chicken all day for the Nuggets and probably the Lakers. Sure they would win a lot of regular season games-probably win the conference. But unless Ayton goes back to anchoring a top defense like what they did on their road to the finals a couple of years ago, they'll be a second round exit again this year. But I agree, they won the offseason with all those minimum contracts.

They hired a coach who has had top rated defenses everywhere he’s been. They added Keita Bates-Diop, a long versatile defender, Drew Eubanks, a solid rim protector, and Beal replacing CP3 is an upgrade on both ends of the floor. They absolutely addressed defense, and they already had the 7th rated defense last year. Denver was 15th. You don’t know what you’re talking about bro

@@zeus4885 Lol. He said in an interview that he likes defensive bigs to anchor his defense. In Indiana, his team was a consistent top 9 defensive team reaching as high as top 1 in 5 years with Hibbert and West. In Los Angeles, he had a top 3rd, 1st and 21st defense in three years respectively. The last year was without McGee as their starter and pretty much Davis playing half the season. His two years in Orlando though he had a 22nd and 18th ranked defense in two years. Even if he is a defensive coach, you need personnel to actually be decent in defense. Keita and Drew are not gonna play 15-20min a game to have that much of an impact in the playoffs. I'll give you the Beal to CP3 comparison as CP is just way too old and fragile. They did have the 7th rated defense and the Nuggets are in the middle of the pack at 15th...in the regular season. Come playoffs the Suns were 14th out of 16 teams and Nuggets was number 1. I guess losing CP3 for games 3-6 affected their defense? I do know what I'm talking about. I aint biased. I'll call it when I see it. You can fact check all the things I said. I do my research. I study the game. The Suns look good in paper but BBQ chicken all the way. Unless they have Ayton playing like JJJ or Davis on the defensive end, they are not going far in the playoffs.
