How the tallest building in Malaysia was designed | Exchange 106

It's not every day that Malaysia gets a brand new tallest building, simply because designing a megastructure like that is no easy task. So, we sat down with the Chief Development Officer of the Mulia Group to find out what it takes to create such a structure.

Skyscraper Center is the most trusted website about skyscrapers around the world. KLCC is still the tallest building in Malaysia with an astonishing 452 meters in height. The TRX is only 445 meters unfortunately, meaning that it's also obviously not the tallest in ASEAN. The 492 meters height is actually measured from sea level, not ground level. KL tower's height from sea level is 515 meters in height, meaning that if we were to measure tallest height from sea level, KL Tower would take the crown, not TRX. It was built to not to compete the iconic twin towers. Not surprisingly, it stands at 445 m in height, though there is still a large space on top of the crown. It's like a hidden message. But that doesn't mean the twin towers remains supreme. Because PNB at that time was planning to build the tallest tower reaching a height of 600 m. So why waste your time and money on competing when someone is planning bigger than yours?

If this building have a problems to my eyes.. its about their exterior LED that light only half way.. I means.. maybe he can make that LED spread smoothly to the part that not have a LED.. its maybe looks more better then half LED like this one😬.. For the first time i saw this building at night.. i think the LED part just not finish yet..but uhh.. its looks so spoil..

This is Gorgeous. Nothing special, just simplicity with hits of Art. I think we are straying Too far away from it. Petronas are Fantastic, this is Fantastic. Burj Dubai. But many new ones are trying these Crazy shapes like the New tallest building going up in KL.

The lighting is sooo tacky! The one thet turn on everynight.. it gave me the sense of urgggghh ness.. In bahasa melayu we call it lampu lip lap lip lap. The crown itself is already a wonderful masterpiece (the apex of the whole design) be it during the day or at night it is beautiful to look at. I wish they get rid of those lampu lip lap.

I'm a fan of minimalism building, however this design looks too.. plain and ugly. Maybe from a close distance u can see the details, but from afar, its just flat and boring.

Bad exterior, extravagant interior. Anyway, financial tower is not about exterior design. It's about what makes the most sense. Look at marina bay financial center, 1wtc, all look terrible from outside.

@@rrsharizam bad exterior regardless of what people say its very subjective. if the truth is just want to convey the message I think the architect just addresses the message that he wants to deliver. i means its better the tower to be simple rather than to be "over designed" and poorly executed as for example bangunan mahkamah Kuala Lumpur...

Agreed about razak's disgraceful. Anyway, Exchance 106 floor's space have been 60% booked even the building is not fully completed yet. An australian company Leased Commercial Pte Ltd is now marketing the rest of 40% worldwide. Major multinational corporates would move in soon.

If you compare this building design to car designs, its a Toyota. Not a BMW or Ferarri. Its ugly in the day and even uglier at nite. What a waste of opportunity to plant another icon in the city skyline.
