CatoTheElder * You are correct. Science does not equal truth all the time. People even use science as an opponent or solution against the concept of God. It all depends on your intention. However as a believer, our duty is only to share the message of the Quran. It is not for us to worry and micro-manage peoples' belief systems. In any case already there are so many sects of Islam and different schools of thought that one could easily spend a lifetime studying and debating over. Let us just support and promote any media that endeavours to connect people to the words of God. What people take from it, what thoughts they have and what beliefs it may or may not create is between each soul and God alone.

its NOT mentioned in the Qur'an. however once you establish a connection and you already know the answer, its easy looking for a source, even if it does not actually say that, but merely assume similar. it would be an entirely different story, if the original scientist created a theory, using the scriptures from the qur'an as a base, and later on, other scientists, confirming that theory, but thats not what happened

You have to look up the Arabic translation to fully understand, which is: "اِذَا الشَّمۡسُ كُوِّرَتۡ". The English translation can be difficult to understand. You need to speak Arabic, basically, and understand the fluency of it. Notice the word - "Takwir" (which is the word for the chapter - "surah at-takwir") - it means "fold up/wrap up", which is why we have "surah at-takwir". So, 81:1 is saying that the light from the sun radiates AND distributes to every part of the solar system, which means that on the Resurrection Day, the sun's radiation will fade. What I have find in these advancement a continuation of the work of predecessor. We need to understand fundamental law of physics involving conservation of energy that energy is neither created nor destroyed it changes it form from one to other. Destruction of a particle like an atom result in energy creation and vice versa. The destruction of very fundamental like Higg Boson will be extremely devastating for our survival. To your question, there is a partial connection between the Earth's death, or the Sun's death, to Higgs Boson. Higgs Boson is to do with the universe mass, and therefore does control what's inside the universe. Every living thing, as well as what's outside of Earth, such as the Sun, the stars, etc. everything in the universe including the universe itself have the time for the starting and ending sequence. Stephen Hawking said that time is not going backwards, so we will never return to our youth, instead we'll get older. He also said that the universe will collapse, including every single star.
