It's always good when "the Americans are deciding which way their country will go as much as the world is deciding it wants less to do with them" is how the thing is framed in the world because it is true, it has always been true, it was true in the times non-US people forgot it was true: internationalism, by which I mean "being involved at all in the world outside US borders", is a minority, cosmopolitan, elite position within the US. I'm a Democrat, and Kamala Harris was my US Senator. I'm a supporter; I want her to win. But I don't therefore think that electing her will make the US into a cosmopolitan country. The US is losing the power it got stuck with after a war it famously didn't want to participate in. The reversion to mean is political isolation to match the cultural isolation that has endured all this time.

We are bloated with the overmigration of other nationalities into a country that is already bloated with entitlements for citizens struggling for equality.
