Well, to be fair, they see themselves as the leader of the world because if not them, it may be worse. The US did not want to get involved in WWII as it was a war in Europe. We resisted so much of it until we could no longer. Pearl Harbor was one stimulus. Regardless, whether the US remains as the world military and economic leader as a good thing or not, remains to be seen. How they had been acting abroad the last few decades alone brings much shame and not a lot of hope for this country (USA) and perhaps the world. We have to learn to coexist and perhaps shift away from the position and mentality of "domination of others to avoid being dominated."

The most powerful man on planet Earth is only in name. Even if he can, he is not supposed to think, atleast not too much. All foreign policy decisions are made for him “to safeguard the interest of the U.S.” POTUS has to always act on the advice of a number of people on his staff, from the Generals, Chief of Staff to so-called experts on foreign matters. This reminds me of the movie, “Shadow Conspiracy” where the President was derided behind his back for being stubborn. His independence of thought and actions were deemed as a security threat to the country.

Just like what you said, China is a very old country with more than 5000 years of continuous history. Do you know that out these long history, China was world number one in economy power for many thousands of those long years. So it is natural for China to regain its world number one status after almost 200 years of decline and humiliation. So do not feel uneasy or threatened by the rise of China. China supports multi-polarism and wants to ensure every country becomes prosperous together via the One Belt One Road projects.

I am going to complain to the Trading Standards Officer, as I fail to see any thinking going on in the Thinkers Forum. On a personal note, this lady is just another pseudo intellectual talking rubbish, with her version of global economics, amongst all the thousands of others. She must be on something to say that Russia has rebuilt its economy, as there is no evidence to prove that it is so. Russia is on a war footing and rapidly running out of money. China has acted responsibly! Wow, it's screwed, losing foreign investment and lies about its GDP and growth rate. China has the worst human rights atrocities since Old Joe was bouncing around the USSR. This lady must be a big friend of Tricky Dickie Wolf, as she talks as much BS.

It doesn't carry that hegemonic mindset of towards neighbors, "we have go rule over or contain them no matter what! Or they will one day rule over us!"

Great assessment! The exposure of the paper tiger is totally complete. Cheap goods, commodities, labor are nowhere to be seen. Foreigners refuse to be used by westerners. Provoking fear and engaging in threats no longer work. Westerners must now work hard for their living as other people seek to encourage self sufficiency. Moreover, the force of highest gravity that is changing the world is the standard of moral excellence in terms of which people in the middle east and east as a whole conduct their lives, far outstripping anything in the west. And yet isn't is amazing that someone like Joseph Borrell of the European Council should have the affrontery to refer to Europe as the garden, while others represent the forest?! What a barbarian!
