@@EdolasMystogan I watched the award show. Everything for The Queen. Or Queens Gambit. Safe. (I watched The Queen early on but got bored. Nice production values-- US audiences eat that up. But I also enjoy clever writing.) I was also disappointed that Lovecraft Country was ignored.

Does anybody else realize that when Wanda becomes stressed, she magically choked the townsfolk in the final episodes? Great callback to the first episode when she was asked an uncomfortable question by Mr. Hart and subconsciously punished him for asking it.
@muhammadfaisal5Y5 Жыл бұрын
I think the choking scene in the first episode was entirely unprecedented. Wanda cannot manipulate people's bodily functions so she had no control over it. It was also the first day of the hex so everything was perfectly under control which is why Vision didn't help until Wanda told him to do so. It can be said that at that point, the residents were like robots. They are programmed to do certain set of tasks so when a twist of events occur, they have no idea how to react to it so they do nothing.

Even the detail of Mrs. and Mr. Hart breaking through to tell Wanda "Stop it" and "Why are you doing this" is amazing.

What I love about the series too is how the story connects with the way the series is aired. The first episodes are actually sitcom length and when we realise it's fake it turns into a 45 minute drama series including the well known Marvel scene after credits.

We're finally back into the swing of Marvel movies being released again with Black Widow and Shang-Chi... but damn if WandaVision wasn't an insanely unique and fun entry into this phase of the MCU. There was a solid period there where people who didn't even really watch Marvel movies were talking about this series and speculating what was happening. It was a really fun little moment where we all got to experience something completely unique yet wholeheartedly nostalgic together.

What an interesting video. I'm still so in love with WandaVision, no idea how often I rewatched it. The way the story is told on different levels, the attention to detail both to the Marvel universe and TV history, the characters, the actors... especially Lizzie and Paul together. This show is second to none. Even got a tattoo of the couple from the comic credits of the Sixties episode.

🙄 As if she had any idea. She didn’t even know she was capable of creating a hex. She didn’t know her power. And she’s had two decades worth of trauma with zero therapy. What she was subconsciously doing with the hex was a physical representation of maladaptive daydreaming and disassociation through her magic. Maladaptive daydreaming is a coping mechanism in response to trauma and loneliness that _real_ people experience, where they create a complex inner world that’s very intense and that they escape to. 🙂 Listen to a therapist and psychologist, Kati Morton, talk about maladaptive daydreaming, kzbin.info/www/bejne/pofUhWiIraaVaac For WandaVision, CinemaTherapy has a video about it, with therapist Jonathan Decker and Kati as well.

If you measure the quality of a product by how it connects to or sets up other products instead of based on its own merits, you will be disappointed every time. You would think that the internal mental struggles and the ambiguous nature of Wanda’s character would be a nice change of pace in the MCU which is known for its perfect, upstanding heroes but no, I guess despite everything that was presented her actions were still just black and white to you.
@chatterbox112 жыл бұрын
Wandavision was an entertaining story, but it was also an allegory, like many superhero stories. On one level it is an adventure mystery about a Marvel superhero, and another level it is study of how individuals in our real world navigate through the stages of grief and the danger of not coming to terms to with grief (i.e. it can hold both the grieving person and those in their lives "hostage"). As for using the device of a comedy sitcom to frame the story, this was done because Wanda had fond memories of growing up watching old American tv sitcoms, which gave her a temporary escape with her family from the difficult circumstances of their lives. Once you understand this basic idea, there is nothing confusing about it, and it certainly is not a mess. It was extremely well-acted, and a very moving and surprisingly intimate story. I think it could have been fleshed out a little more in the final episodes, but the creators ultimately had to cut some scenes as the production ran into limitations imposed by the pandemic. That said, it was a very creative and excellent story.
