It honestly should've been called the Wii 2. As unoriginal of a name it is, would've completely changed how poorly the console did. It all started with people thinking it was an add-on so it being called Wii 2 would've made sure everyone knew it was the next console.

+Saktuscactus Yes the marketing was absolutely horrible, but it all started with everyone thinking it was an addon. Even some stores thought it was an addon and advertised as one in the stores. There's no way for someone to look at "Wii 2" and think "huh, that must be an addon" Everyone would've known it was the next console and then would pay more attention to the marketing and new games coming out. It was all a vicious cycle of "People not buying it, third party doesn't make games, people don't but because lack of 3rd party games, don't make games because people not buying, etc" All we can do is hope for the Switch to be the complete opposite of this disaster. So far it looks good, it's marketed well, people know it's a new console and 3rd party developers are backing it.

For me I always got frustrated by the requirement to use the GamePad for the settings. There is no reason you should have to do that. I think Nintendo just does it as some form of arbitrary way to force you to own a Gamepad with the console. Also the fact that the console is capable of playing GameCube games and is capable of being region free yet Nintendo doesn't let it function that way so people end up having to hack it.
