In German everyday culture, it is a form of politeness, to get straight to the point, thus not wasting the time of others. This is especially true for important information, like when a very important person has died. It also puts aside your own importance, when delivering news, and emphasises the importance of the news and the person its about.
@NoctLightCloud2 жыл бұрын
Interesting! That is not the case in the political as well as business sector where the German speaking world is unfortunately adopting the US American model of never getting to the point and talking without actually saying something.
@DLT-po6to2 жыл бұрын
@@NoctLightCloud Well politicians will be politicians. Only few ever get to the point. I'd say that's an international phenomenon, though. But the german business sector not being straight to the point? What the heck are you on about? I can tell you it's usually no nonsense and straight to the point. There is no small talk, they are professional and friendly but they won't waste any time to make the deal and move on to the next. I do business all over europe and i know that business in germany and scandinavia usually is quicker and more efficient than in southern europe for example. In italy or spain it's not rare to wait a few days to even get a response to an inquiry. While the same thing may only take a few mails and half an hour to complete with the danish. That's just how it often is. And i love those differences, that's europe.

Just wanna mention that the German Broadcast here was never interrupted. It was the standard 20.00 / 8 PM News Show, the Queen's Death was just the first part (after the introduction seen here they proceeded to show a more throughout report talking about her life, the entire thing took up half of the show's duration though) The only thing that differentiated this death announcement from the others this news show does is the length of the report (around 8 minutes, while the show only runs till 8.15 PM) And that instead of being the last before weather and sports, it was the very first news of the show.

What a remarkable lady. She devoted her whole life to our service, united our country, became a worldwide icon and showed us her warmth and passion through the thousands of interactions and engagements she had with the public. Her incredible personality and gratitude will be heavily missed. She's lived a life that we will never be able to comprehend. Her personal life and family matters were heavily covered and scrutinised by the media and through all the difficulties she overcame in her long and illustrious life, she kept pushing on until her final hours. It's hard to imagine life without Queen Elizabeth, she has always been there for everyone. She always put the public first and got on with the job. We took her for granted and never realised just how much she meant to all of us until she finally passed. As the nation mourns, let us be glad that through the most unexpected twists in the history of the monarchy, Princess Elizabeth became our Queen and for the last 70 years, she has been a beacon of light, a breath of fresh air and the greatest monarch the world has ever seen. She may be someone's daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, but she also happened to be the greatest Queen of all time who has left a gigantic void that will never be filled ever again. Just another historical event, no more no less. I've still got a film with close-ups my dad took of the Queen and Philip driving down the streets of Perth, W.A. She was visiting the Commonwealth Games in 1962. My dad dragged us four young kids downtown to watch taking his super 8 camera.

Don't know why people in the replies felt the need to type snide remarks or just plain rude comments. Being rude to someone's dead mother and grandma. Just ignore the news if you truly don't care. There's no need to act like a mean high school girls pretending indifference while constantly throwing shade every chance they got.

A lot of the folks with snide comments typically think shes the cause for their country's decline so it's kinda understandable how and why they would think so.
