This is similar to “deepfake” tech - deepfakes utilize CGI. It’s a CGI-rendered imposition of a person’s likeness encoded over another person’s face. The pros I’ve interviewed in this particular vocation tend to avoid saying deepfake since it’s generally used in a negative connotation to “fake” people out to believe something is real when it isn’t. Deepfake would imply that machine learning was used (deep learning) for the face. They might have done that but they might have also done it by hand in which case it would be incorrect to call it a deepfake.

But seeing how most people have no idea this exists still, they don't have much to worry about. Truth is the technology is pretty old now and has been perfected quite a lot. They can fake anyone saying anything, they even have voice emulation and real time (live) face/voice tracking and replication onto any random person in video.

Another cool note is that they actually had to make her a bit younger than in season 1. Eleven escaped hawkins lab in 1983 when she was 12 years old. But the events before and leading up to her battle with One happened 4 years earlier in 1979 when she was only 8 years old.

Yes. Everyone had to shave their head, including the stunt doubles and other numbers. Wigs are expensive to customize and take a lot of production time. Millie is a working actress with many projects lined up, so it was an endeavor creating the three wigs for her. She had to shave her head for the first season and knew what she was getting into.
