I remember playing this machine many years ago when I was a kid at a county fair in my town, I'm thinking it was 1972 or 1973. I spent all my time and money in the arcade tent and never rode the rides. I would tell people about playing a game that had flippers that not only moved up and down but also side to side, and everyone said I was crazy and must have dreamt it. This machine is beautiful for being 50 years old. I enjoy newer games but the older EM machines are in a class by themselves. The older game designers came up with original themes unlike the modern ones today (Stern, Jersey Jack) that use bands, movies, and TV shows. I've watched your videos for years but never see you in any of them, or on your brother Donnie's channel.
@LyonsArcade

Yeah I like the original themes myself too, seems more creative to me! I don't like being in the videos, the game is the star of the show :) Thanks for watching B L!

Yeah I think people are missing the boat when they complain about the flippers, the game design takes into account the flipper size, it's all about if you want to enjoy it or not, lol

Really like watching your videos. I played pinball as early as the late 60's. The oldest pinball machines that I remember playing were the ones that you had to push the ball up before you sent it off onto the playing field. It was a dime to play and you got five balls. If I was to play pinball now, now that I have watched several of your videos, I would surely be thinking about the complexity involved that makes all the bells, lights, scoring, etc. work so perfectly. I eagerly fed many dimes and quarters into these magnificent machines long ago and experienced hours of unadulterated fun. If I let myself drift back to those times just briefly... oh what a thrill it was to hear the sudden sound of the knocker (after several games of trying) announce that I had performed well enough to earn a free game. Good memories.

Thanks for watching W H, they certainly are magical machines. If you think about it, the only reason they were created was to entertain people and they've each had thousands of people play them, they've seen a lot of good times! Thanks for watching, see you on the next video!

This must be one of the coolest EM-machines ever built imao. I was checking up Mr. Zale in IPDB and there where a whole bunch of machines he designed, (77 records match in 10 years), now thats a big WOW! So many genious constructions to get everything working. This is way more than the SS-machines offerd when they were introduced. Big thanks for this series Ron. 👍

I watched this video and thoroughly enjoyed it. I miss working on E.M. pinball machines. The last one I worked on was Gottliebs Big Brave. Which was originally called Big Injun . This name did not set too well with some of the Native American workers. So Gottleb had to change the name. I think only a handful of the Big Injuns got out . Whoever has one is very very lucky

What would happen if two balls went into the tar pit simultaneously during multi-ball, so that both balls were past the gate before the first ball hit the top switch? Would the machine be "stuck" until an operator intervenes, or would there be some mechanism by which the tar pit could advance (e.g. if the tar pit advanced on power-up, getting two balls stuck in the tar pit would unfairly end the current game for all players, but power cycling would restore the game to operation). Also, have you ever seen Balls-a-Poppin' (1956)? I don't think I've seen one in person, but I've seen a couple videos of it, and it looks pretty cool. Instead of using "lock" shots, it has an auto-plunger which adds up to eight "wild balls" in addition to the ball in play.
@LyonsArcade
@LyonsArcade 3 жыл бұрын
Looking at the schematics, I think it would be stuck and wouldn't be able to start a game or kick a ball out, I think they have the gate at the top setup so well though that it would be nearly impossible for that to happen, there is a little metal post that makes the ball bounce to the left, and they may have added that just so two balls wouldn't be able to roll down into the tar pit while touching each other (which might make it past the gate)... since they have to bounce around a little bit the gate would close before the second ball made it in. I've never had a Balls-a-poppin in person, but it'd be a fun one to work on for sure!

that sticking relay for the green light, stick the volt meter on the coil and see if it's getting a voltage, if not use a degaussing wand to demagnetize it.

I never thought I would see a back-glass from that error with no cracking whatsoever in it. This one doesn't even look like it has faded much. The playfield is fantastic too. This really looks like a machine that was mostly in a home environment or has been really well looked after by the operator. Am I right in thinking the Multiball on this could be upto 4 balls given where it can hold balls?
