Skyline was one of my first Kershaw's, single locking liner, PB washers and it flipped pretty terribly by today's standards. Very tension-sensitive pivot and really needed the washers polished. Very lightweight and the high hollow made it a pocket scalpel.

I appreciate the mini skyline. I used to crave original like a grail that was seemingly expensive for a new knife person. Once I got one I realized it couldn't flip and was too long to carry in my area. The mini fixes both issues that turned my grail into a "fail".

The Pena knives has been doing the modern traditional for a little while. Im not sure how long they have been around or how long they've been doing the modern traditional folder, but they look great and totally have those traditional shapes with modern materials and locking knives down. Im not sure how long Jack wolf has been around but I wonder if they got inspiration from Pena.

The Skyline was my first "real" knife that I had a hard time justifying at the time, which when looking at where things have gone seems silly, but needs to start somewhere. Ordered a stonewashed version. Would be great if they could bring back a USA made variant as this was the buyout of its time. Just fix the detent and the clip from the original.

It looks like a Barlow to me. You don't need a bolster to make it a Barlow. I like that it has a pocket clip. 20CV is an amazing steel. Holds and edge forever. It also depends on the Rockwell to compare it to m390.

The Hogue Deka(Gen2) is absolutely without question a Benchmade Bugout killer!!!! I got the Deka(Gen2) in magnacut with blue polymer handles, and I really hated it!!! Those polymers handles to me felt way too lightweight and flimsy feeling😬 I already had a Hoge Deka(Gen2) in 20cv and blue/black G-mascus and the G-mascus handles are absolutely amazing!!! Thank you DCA I'm in my late 70s you are a terrific sales person. Knives have become lighter and with different steels most of which most people don't need,I grant there's a different generation . I look for safety at my age. I get confused between button and axis, lock backs are a pain. What do you recommend mend for an elderly that's inexpensive but good for cutting everyday things and yard work made in the USA . I'm tired of sharpening knives without using them. Most are not USA made and I paid a good price. Some knives are over priced for what they do. I live in a wooded area which I sometimes cut branches other times cardboard . My knives are out of date because of weight and have come apart from sitting. I carry a Spyderco and SOG; one is liner and other a half axis lock.

Ooh sweet, I'd been thinking about picking up a Deka for a while, wanted it in Magnacut, but I loathe really flexible linerless designs (Got a Bugout and ended up getting Titanium scales for it, and the Acta Non Verba A100 is worse where it'll pinch skin since the blade stock is thicker). I'm not super into compound grinds, but it mostly looks cosmetic in nature to me. The Trek-Loc on the Gemini is interesting, but ultimately I'm going to pass on it. The Blade steel's great; the lock's interesting, but it's quite a bit weaker than other button locks out there. In practice, it shouldn't make a difference, but a lot of them fail (disengage) with some spine tapping (as in much less pressure than most folks would do a "spine whack" test with). To be fair, Kizer's implementation of it seems to be a bit stronger than Vosteed's knives that use it. THAT being said, it's not the reason for a pass. That goes to me having button locks with steel liners jamming on me. It seemingly isn't company-specific, as I've had jammed button locks from Kizer, Civivi/Sencut, CJRB, Boker, QSP, Vosteed as well as other less known brands like TwoSun, but in all cases, only the steel linered models. Steel, Aluminum or Titanium handled button locks don't have this problem for me. My guess is changing barometric pressure between seasons cause the liners to expand/contract just enough to mess up the travel of the locking mechanism. I'm in the Denver area for reference.

Seth, your theory about multi lace knives needs a bit of rethinking. For instance, a traditional Stockman knife has three blades, each of which was designed for a different purpose. The blades kept a guy from having to carry multiple knives while working around the herds.
