OMFG! The action and acoustics of the Holt Morpheus 👌
@Silence-and-ViolenceАй бұрын
Get a North Arms Skaha 2 for similar action and acoustics for an absolute fraction of the price (still not cheap, but the best action I've ever felt).

@Silence-and-ViolenceАй бұрын
@Adamas11 Father/son team out of Canada. Doing magnacut these days. Made to order, base price plus handle material upcharge. No upcharge for g10s and micartas. Upcharge for fatcarbons and CF. They have absolutely dialed in the linerlock, flipper action. The best folder maker have all come to realize that linerlocks allow for the best, smoothest, most "automatic" feeling action, especially for flippers. So that's why you're going to see linerlocks on any of these customs that are trying to sell you on action and acoustics. I will say, the best acoustics, in my opinion, are made from having material like g10 or carbon fiber. It creates a bassier, popping noise that echoes more. My full fatcarbon Skaha has the coolest acoustics. The action is exactly like the guy here describes the Holt. You feel resistance from the detent and then it flies open like an automatic. You basically cannot fail the opening, the detent is so perfect that if you put even a gram of pressure beyond the detent breaking point, it's going to fly open. There are no half opens, from any position. The detent is flawless. Then you get that super satisfying double click from the liner nesting into place and then the detent pad (the best guys are not using balls anymore, they use a slightly flattened pad) clicking into place a micro-fraction of a second after and then the cicks are followed a micro-fraction of a second later by the hollow, bassy, popping sound of the carbon fiber handles creating a sort of semi-open cabinet for the sound waves (or g10 and micarta make similar sounds). Haha, sorry went kinda 'tistic on this one. But guys who really care about kinetics and acoustics on a folding knife are being kinda 'tistic to begin with. It's gonna run you $300ish, but the Skaha 2 has the same or better action than the most expensive full custom linerlocks in the world.

The irony of manhood: I'm listening to this at work using my $9 Milwaukee folder. I own a Condor Kephart, a Gerber Prodigy, a $50 Mora, a Libertariat, 14" Fiskars hatchets and a Leatherman Signal. Nothing else matters. But I still love to watch.
@rtz549Ай бұрын
Reminds me of today at the Amazon pickup. In the car opening the knife with a knife and thinking about the one in my pocket, and in the console, and in the front part of the console, and the large fixed blade between the seat and console, and one or more in the back seat and some in the hatch. Not to mention the ones in the garage and the pile of them in the house. Watching knife videos and on forums and websites looking and reading about them. Sometimes I alternate to firearms..
@random_eskimo_in_the_rockiesАй бұрын
I have a Condor Selknam, which is an inexpensive HARD use knife, one I have no problem carrying as my only must-depend-on heavy duty knife. If my EDC is just my Kershaw Dozier which is a $30 knife, I'm very content to have my needs filled. If I'm hunting and all I have is my Morakniv Eldris, I'm going to be able to do everything I need. Don't get me wrong: My current EDC fixed blade carry is 3 Esee knives, Sencillo in MagnaCut, Izula in S35VN, and Pacaya in CPM-3V. My pocketknives are Demkos, Kizers, Spydercos, and it used to include a Sebenza. However, there are a LOT of budget blades I think are excellent. I have a lot of Civivis and CKRT's I absolutely love.

I despise front flippers and can't deploy them with my female medium sized hands. I deeply regret owning the two that I have in my very large knife collection. Thomas, as I've been a fan of this channel for quite a while now, I have something that's been on my mind. First off I know that you used to work as a bartender and I know that you're somewhat of a gear head and have a bit of mechanical knowledge, much like myself. I know that the leatherman skeletool was your knife of choice for years (I too EDC one and have for years). The real question is; how the hell did you end up at Knife Center as the camera man/editor of their KZbin channel.

As a small time knife maker who is relatively unknown at this time, I hate the ranger cub. Only because I designed and created prototypes for my "ranger" line of knives and I named my smaller knife the ranger cub. Now I gotta come up with a new name. FML. Good thing I haven't advertised it yet.

Magnacut is not as expensive as the knives who utilize it make it out to be - knives are only expensive bc people will buy them
@anthonyberardi8904Ай бұрын
@@Blawa-ti4xpI have heard Magnacut is one of the most difficult steels to heat treat
@EDCandLaceАй бұрын
Magnacut outside of custom heat treat knives is just not anything special... In production heat treats it's basically a tougher and more stainless s35vn with less edge retention. S90v has an Excellent performance range at a fairly wide range of hardness from 58 up to 62 and it's fairly easy for companies to heat treat. S90v is sadly under utilized in the current EDC knife market. It's one of the absolute best stainless steels one can own for a lighter duty EDC knife.
