@dareyonap4351
@dareyonap4351 10 ай бұрын
@@indicajane4721 Why do you feel it’s not good for their hair? it’s not going to damage the hair for her to cut the hairline shorter, for them to get smaller edges. If my client came to my chair and requested it, I’d recommend them to do the edges with their regular growth and show them how to blend it. Yet if they truly want it, I’d do it. Would I do it to my own hair, absolutely not. It would be the same for someone who wants a wolf cut but later change their mind and want a 0 degree cut. They’d have to let their hair grow back out if they want it to stay long, but it’s not an unhealthy thing to do.
@indicajane4721
@indicajane4721 10 ай бұрын
@@dareyonap4351 it’s legit cutting someone hairline and not baby hairs. They are cutting the thinnest and most stressed part of the hair. Those are not baby hairs but shorter hairs in the front of their head that may have already broken off. To cut it more for one style is not wise. When she attempts another that missing hair may come into play. It’s like when ppl cut someone’s own hair to fit an open sew in and once it’s out they’re stuck with a cut that doesn’t work for daily. When her hair isn’t laid those hairs are just gonna be sticking up on the side of her head because they are not baby hairs. That’s not something you do for hair health. She’s gonna be looking crazy and having to lay her hair daily till that hair grow to match the rest of her head. IMO
@dareyonap4351
@dareyonap4351 9 ай бұрын
@@indicajane4721 I get where you’re coming from but most people that get their hairline laid/molded like this, do it with every hair style. Even if she were to change it up such as; wearing lace, up-do, pixie cut (wouldn’t really matter as the hair would be short already), another braid style or something along the lines it wouldn’t look crazy as she would get them laid/molded. I agree that it is the most stressed area but it would only be bad/harmful if pulled (traction alopecia) on or if she were to rub/remove the edge control/ molding product without remover/water. During my consultations I usually ask if they know how to do/mold their baby hairs/hairline or someone that does and if they don’t I recommend not keeping to much out or only keeping out the thinnest portion to prevent hair lose. Tbh I see that it’s more of a personal opinion rather than a hair health concern. That’s why I said and the stylist said if they request it, that we’d do it. Especially if they still want me to do it after my suggestion because it’s not my hair but theirs. My job as a cosmologist is to protect the integrity and health of the hair but not control what you want done. As long as it’s not unhealthy it’s not my place to tell you what style not to do. If it was up to me and my personal experience, I wouldn’t do haircuts on long hair at all due to the fact that if anything were to happen to my clients health wise, under certain circumstances it would be hard to grow back and sometimes it won’t. I legit sometimes want to cry when my clients with hair down to their butts come to cut it off and it’s healthy but it’s their hair.😭 To each it’s own 🤷🏽‍♀️ much love ❤️

Please don’t start that BS because I’ve been doing hair all my life and never been to the shop. I’ve learned everything on my own you can have your cosmetology license and still not know what you’re doing why are you even blaming the stylist ? I thought the customer was always right so if you have a client they’re requesting a certain style you’re supposed to give it to them… Unless she has some type of hair condition to where you can’t do the style from the looks of it she wanted it cut because it’s too long to do baby hairs. Therefore,the client wanted her edges cut. It’ll grow back that’s between her and her stylist. And by the way, it’s not the unlicensed stylist that are making clients come already prepare. It’s actually the girls that work in the shop as well, which is why it’s hard to find a true traditional old-school stylist that will give you the full experience, when it comes to a wash, and blow….

A lot of these comments are filled with ignorant people. First of all baby hairs have been around for many years the original black, bettyboop, and Josephine Baker had them a lot of women in the 90s was inspired by Chilli from TLC and that’s one of the main reasons why they started rocking baby hairs. Now as for the stylist l, I don’t understand why people are blaming her when the client is the one that requested this, because her hair in the front was far too long to create the swoops that she desire to have. All of you people in here talking about she’s a unlicensed, stylist and talking all this nonsense makes absolutely no sense. When you have a client that’s in your chair you’re getting paid to do a style that they want because the money is coming out of their pocket. Sometimes I wonder about this generation of people like you guys are so out of touch and just be talking on your own understanding without even doing your research.

If you can flat iron them, they’re not edges or baby hairs 😵‍💫 I don’t know why people find this so hard to accept lol. The most you should be able to do with actual edges is catch ‘em with a hot comb.

people cut they edges bc sometimes they're too long to style, what's the problem it's her hair and if she wants to cut them Ion see a problem

You fail to realize that that’s something that the client wanted… The stylist has to do hair according to what their client is requesting. Who told you that you have to allow a stylist to do your hair any kind away without your permission??? If that’s the case, that’s your own fault. she cut the edges due to the customers request because her edges were too long in order to do the baby hairs does she wanted. It’s just hair. It’ll grow back and it’s most likely why she didn’t care to request to have her edges cut in the first place. She’s not bald like some of you up here complaining and crying in the comments over someone else’s hair. It’s her hair, so why even complain?

Why are y’all so upset like the client is blind or didn’t request this? As a stylist I’ve had people ask me to cut them and keep them at a manageable length bc they like the look of edges and that’s OK! It’s their head!

Edges are breakage, baby hairs are edges, which is breakage. All y’all trynna do is make it not fluffy looking. I’m a white girl with “edges” and I gel them down cause they can look crazy. But don’t ever cut them. It’s already broken off hair struggling to grow more.
