Drummers, how do you deal with knee issues if any? When I do play for several hours straight often I have knee pain in the "kick drum" leg and I'm unable to play for several days. Any issues like this? Any advice? Do you do warmups for legs or smth
@JakeReedmusic4 жыл бұрын
Interesting ... are you burying the bass drum beater in the head? Like not letting it rebound after every stroke? If so, this could a reason for the pain.

About getting huge drum sounds when recording drums in small studios,- here´s a little insight and experience from Ian Paice of Deep Purple as stated in an old interview from the eighties (parafrased): " When recording drums in a studio environment your big live setup kit is often oversized for that environment, so a way to make your drum kit sound larger, deeper and more powerful than it actually is, is to tune your toms and your kick drum(s) as low as they can go without losing the trampoline-like whipping rebound feel of the initial attack of the sticks or the pedal. When you find that tension just above things going slack on you you´ve found your sweet spot. You then take a fairly large sized snare drum and tune that as high as it can go without it sounding like a piccolo drum,- so you retain all the pop, crack and sizzle from the stick work but with a snare sound with a deep bodied ring to it. This can be done with a drum kit as small as a jazz kit,- won´t sound like John Bonham, but the kit will sound one or two sizes larger than it actually is. The rest is a matter of the recording engineer and the producer making the best of the mics and in particular the room mics so you actively work the room and create a little natural ambience. A bit of compression, a little bit of eq, maybe a little plate or hall reverb underneath the toms and the snare,. and you´ve got it." A few more treats for you,- moving from the Euro-Folk into the Euro-Rock/Euro-Metal stuff: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqGzeJyajaaSq5o kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJ6vfomYhpiDmZo kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6CTmqCIdrOdo5I kzbin.info/www/bejne/haGtYqCXaK5jd8k kzbin.info/www/bejne/nou4oJyHfs5kmdU kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZObiHqfnJWAgrc kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2rGf42Hft-GnsU kzbin.info/www/bejne/f33EfGaEfriCo7M kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWqxenWQm7t1jZY Enjoy. :)

Nice! Yes, that's def how I like to tune the toms for that sound ... go for the lowest fundamental before the head gets papery.
