How This European Family Lives In Sri Lanka, Tangalle 🇱🇰

I am pretty exited to be showing you our house in Tangalle, Sri Lanka. It is more than 100 year old, an old traditional Sri Lankan house that I did not expect. And we are only paying about $18 dollars a night, and it would be even cheaper if we would have rented it for a whole month. And how did we like living there? Was it all old and creaky and dusty since it is an old house? Or was it full of old charms and modern amenities? Please guys come along this house tour and I will show you how it is. You will find this house on Airbnb in Tangalle, no worries, there are not too many, as the place is still not very high up on the tourist map. Tangalle I would recommend anyway, to get away from too many business people and to meet very friendly and genuine local people.

That's a lovely house for the price with a front garden to be enjoyed by the kids. Not many couples can claim that their children all learnt to walk in different countries. I found it moving that you keep a shrine for your parents everywhere you go, & I would assume that they passed away relatively young.

Hello M & L, I feel the need to correct you on a few assumptions about this house. Although it may be 100 years old, it looks very much like its been refurbished. Eg. new rendering on the outside wall. The other issue is that the traditional building design during the time of the british government was an open-air patio out at the front of the house or as we used to call it "Verandah". Wow ! That's a word I have'nt used for a long long time. My grandfather and grandmother liked nothing better to sit out the front at the end of the day until the mosquitoes began to make things difficult just as dusk arrived. This house looks like it had one originally but it was walled up and had windows installed after some time.
