It's all political. Ask yourself. What Olympic sport has arbitrarily cut the team member count and changed weight classes 4 times in 4 years? Just weightlifting. And count how many countries are disproportionately affected by those changes? Just 1, China. Meanwhile, they're talking about adding 3v3 basketball as a new event. What a joke.
@nicktubby97103 ай бұрын
Out of a possible 45 Weightlifting Medalists in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 20 were subsequently banned after re-testing a competition sample. That's 44%.. of medalists! Weightlifting is absolutely rife with drug use, it's basically systemic. The USSR dominated weightlifting for decades, and then they fell apart and got caught cheating, the void was filled by China. China isn't good at weightlifting, they're good at drugs, just the same as the USSR before them. Weightlifting isn't a test of an individuals strength, speed, skill, or stamina, it's a test of their ability to utilise a drug program and not get caught. There may be phenoms who are incredibly gifted athletes, but if they're a weightlifter, they are on drugs as well. Because those phenoms cannot outcompete other insanely gifted athletes who are on drugs.. and everyone is on drugs when it comes to weightlifting. When 50% of the field gets caught on drugs, the other 50% isn't clean, they just didn't get caught.

@thechosenone933 ай бұрын
I can somewhat agree on the Lu point because he did easily what people in heavier weight classes were struggling to do. The man was 77kg and did 100kg over bodyweight snatch whilst in the current 89s,some of the top ten can't even manage a 175kg snatch
@TheRockerRoller3 ай бұрын
Not to take away from Lu's greatness anything, but you need to consider that the heavier weight class, the harder it is to snatch big weights. To keep it at around 100kg weight class, these guys nowadays still have to catch up to Nicu Vlad who snatched 200.5kg at 100kg class in 1986 world championships. Yes and he C&J-ed 237kg that day too.

Olympic weight class change only happened after Tokyo. The most competitive athletes had to cut 7kg down from 109, or gain 7kg from 96. Whether they have super genes and/or PED or not, it's still cheap to say they merely rely on those factors. In this high competitive world you still need to strain very hard, sleep enough and your diet has to be top notch. If that wasn't´t the case, then everyone could compete in the Olympics, which is not true.
