Odbyt Konia i don‘t know where you have seen something that would provoke your comment, but ok? I just mean it‘s not a game changer to build a good modern sport bike, any european or japanese brand has been doing that for decades, indian is just the only american company doing it. Essentially i just wanted to comment on how funny it is to say „they changed the game“ at an american company just because they actually built a good and modern sportbike 😄

To change ride modes while riding you have to let off the throttle. It’s something to due with the ride by wire system
@Ichibuns
@Ichibuns 3 жыл бұрын
It changes the throttle mapping. In a car it's usually not a big deal. In a torquey sport bike with gobs of horsepower like this one, cruising in rain mode and switching to sport mode is the difference between maintaining speed and popping a wheelie. That would make even the most seasoned riders butt pucker lol

However, from the beginning, I was never pleased with the car-dealership like attitude. Even the small things like an owner's manual that took me 4 months to finally receive. Did I mention that they sent me the manual in French only? lol I had to go into the Indian dealership several times for certain things and each time I dreaded it! @@darrengriffith9680 There is no way I would call mine awful. It stalls every now and then during warm up and once rolling while still cold it is laggy and unresponsive but it gets up to temp fast [79-80c] . Once up to temp it hammers. Other than that it surges a bit on part throttle while going down hill kind of coasting but hardly worse than anything else I have owned. It is in getting serviced today including checking for updates so it will be interesting to see what it come back like
@darrengriffith9680

Jeff Green I mean I think you can agree for an expensive bike that’s not acceptable though. Stalling, jittery throttle, hesitation. I have a zx10 and the fueling is perfect, as well as a Buell lightning that’s nearly 20 years old and have owned many other bikes with zero issues. My wife has a royal enfield himilayan and it stalls when cold on occasion but otherwise is fine and it’s a super cheap bike. In fact I haven’t had a bike that’s acted like this since a 1992 suzuki bandit that’s carbureted. I love the bike but these issues are unacceptable. Indian promised they would fix it in preproduction models and it would be fine after the bike is released. It’s still not.

The Carbon Fiber edition really elevated this model. Sure it's not the fastest for the money, but damn you do see where your money IS going. Ohlins, Akras, Carbon Fiber Tank, Tail, and Front piece. Not many bikes have that kind of finish and presentation for $17K much less anything else under 20K. Even if you bought a base for $12K, trying to do all the mods the Carbon one comes with would run you more than just taking the Carbon off the showroom. My Harley Sportster has MASSIVELY disappointed me. It feels like a half-hearted attempt at a "naked" bike. Fat Front Tires, scrapes everywhere, no suspension travel, regular looking finish & presentation (not bad, but not stellar) and basically costed the same after taxes+fees... _I bought the wrong bike_ I'm not even gonna bother dumping money into modding the Sportster to even be HALF as cool as the Indian, I'd rather just trade it and take the L on losing 1.5K on depreciation.

Changed the game? Hmm, no. When this thing came out, I saw it and thought, wow! It's beautiful, sporty, and is an American bike that has a riding position I might actually like. BUT... It's a Ducati Monster 1200 for similar money, but slower, heavier, longer, less powerful, doesn't corner as well, and the engine isn't nearly as smooth. OR... It's a Yamaha XSR900 that makes similar power for roughly a third more money, but is again slower, heavier, longer, doesn't corner as well, and the engine isn't nearly as smooth. Let's call this thing what it is: a cool American alternative to the European and Japanese offerings, and a solid first effort into the category. But one that needs improvement to be competitive in the world of sporting standards where the big players have had lots of time to practice and refine. If I were in the market today, I'd pounce on the XSR900. It'll outperform the Indian in nearly every way at 2/3 the price. C'mon America, we can do better.

This might be a bit much. And I hope I dont get too much hate for this. I've been watching your channel for years. (No idea why I havent subscribed) Whoever wins this bike is going to be one lucky SOB. When I got out I'd the army I was dealing with alot of PTSD and other issues. I got into riding motorcycles and all of it was just seemingly gone when I hopped on two wheels. However, the honda shadow I bought back in 2017 has been out of commission for over a year, and I've been really wishing I had another motorcycle. If i won this bike, i couldn't tell you how much that would mean to me. Little of my backstory, since I was a kid I loved motorcycles. At age 7 or 8 in chicago, me and my friends were playing baseball and these bikers showed up and they were just watching on their hogs. We lost the ball and one of them walked up to us, gave us a new baseball and let us keep playing. Since then I loved the biker community and motorcycles. But, problem. Nobody in my family, nor any friends ever rode motorcycles. I was really poor until I joined the army (then I was only moderately poor lol) and then, new issue. The army has some really ridiculous rules and regulations on riding on base, and i was a single soldier in the barracks. So i figured maybe I'll wait till i get out. And i finally got a motorcycle, the honda shadow 1100. But, again. The dang things electronics shat out on me and now it wont start or respond or anything. I've felt myself slipping. And I really dont want to seem like I'm begging, because I DO have the VA and their group therapy helps. But Sean. This motorcycle would mean the absolute world to someone, and I can only hope that was me I just realized I didnt explain why I'm bike less lol.. He's right, this SHOULD be Indian's best selling motorcycle except that people who want to buy American motorcycles want to buy cruisers. And people who don't care if a bike has an American logo on it know they can get a bike with more power that doesn't cook your legs every time you stop at a light for less money.

You could do what my brother in law did. He bought a beat up, old Ford Explorer for his first car because he got it for a deal & could pay cash for it. Immediately posted it for sale for more than he bought it for, and drove it until someone bought it. He used that money to go buy a little nicer vehicle, and repeated the process. Five cars later, he had a lightly used Cadillac CTS that he paid cash for & never financed a car. You could do the same with your bike.

@@usmcvet0313 I been doing that, I started with a honda scooter for a few hundred, and I'll put money in them to fix them up and sell it for a small profit. But last bike I sold for 4k I broke even on it and that's what I was going to use for my down payment but decided to just buy the speed triple for 4k instead. Maybe in a year or two I'll sell the triumph for about what I paid.

Wish Indian would make a true street fighter style bike with this platform. Like the Harley Bronx that never was. -Shorter wheelbase -Lighter -Little more horsepower “to compete with other bikes in that class” -And sliiiightly more aggressive ergonomics

@11:06 No these bikes are not selling well at all. My local Indian dealer has 3 of these, one of each model, and they are all marked down $3250-$3750 off MSRP because they have just been sitting on the show room floor for over a year now.

I rode one of those when I was at Daytona Bike Week this year. I really enjoyed it! I ride a touring bike because I do about 20K miles per year and much of it is overnight or week long stuff. So, the FTR could not be my first bike. It could, however, be my second bike once I get my first one paid for.

wish i was 6ft tall and wasn't skin and bones. this is another motorcycle i'm afraid to even try and sit on. was watching a video of someone who has 5 inches on me and he was on his tip toes while sitting on the 1200. i'm afraid i'd drop it on the show room floor. and if i had to stop on it fast i'd lay it down right in the street. i always wanted something i could take off road that didn't look like the bike i learned to ride on. the ugly yamaha GT 80. i guess i could reach the ground on the scout sixty but it doesn't have much ground clearance for going off road. and if the scout goes down i'm gonna need some help getting her back on her wheels cause she out weighs me by about 425lbs
