Aiden Gabor is a former associate of a notorious crime family, who, found his way back to the side of justice. Approached by the DOJ with a daunting ultimatum- face life imprisonment for crimes including racketeering, embezzlement, extortion, and conspiracy to commit murder-he chose to become a confidential informant. For over a decade, Aiden worked undercover, risking his life to help the DOJ arrest and convict over a dozen high-ranking police officers and politicians. His gripping memoir, Conflicting Loyalties, offers an unflinching look into his life as a Mafia enforcer and a DOJ informant.

Funny you should say this. I started watching Jim and IDKAT during the covid and really liked KELLY...she is very intelligent and engaging, giving a woman's perspective to Jim's sometimes over the top and male locker room humor.

This guy was all right, had lived experience and some good work stories, but didn't seem especially knowledgeable about the history of the mafia. "La cosa nostra" doesn't just mean a bunch of Italian-Americans having a shared meal, though I sort of see what he was getting at. Someone like Michael Franzese, Sammy Gravano, even Joe Pistone (Donnie Brasco, who Jim mentioned) would probably have been willing to do this (all of them having KZbin channels or podcasts of their own) and might have been able to supply a more substantial account of what mob life is like and where it came from. That said, I did enjoy this.

@emdiar6588
@emdiar6588 Ай бұрын
@@thomasthompson5613 If I knew him personally, I'd have heard that, but I'm not one of the guys he's hiding from. Anyone who knows him, would recognise the voice. Even an accent/dialect expert who'd never met him, could pin down his social class, age and the region he grew up in with some accuracy, especially with an hour long podcast to study. When using the device, you should still say as little as possible in the least expressive way, but you should also avoid using your own idiolect at all costs. ie, if you have a habit of saying ''Know what I mean" or "It is what it is" or any of those meaningless phrases that simply pad out a sentence, don't do it! We ALL have 'catchphrases' that our friends notice but we are completely unaware of, or words that we have been slightly mispronouncing all our lives, or linguistic quirks and ticks, or speech impediments like a lisp or difficulty with 'r's or 'th's, which are specific to ourselves, like an audible fingerprint, and the device used here doesn't mask any of that at all.

This dude is full of it. Even if Aiden wasn’t his original name and he’s in witness protection, writing the book would reveal who he is. Ya know what else reveals who he is? Telling them his nickname, how he got it, and naming the guy who gave it to him! Completely fake or he just revealed who he is to somebody

So this guy puts out his alias, published a book, and has an IG account; yet, he can't reveal his face and voice?! This guy seems like a bunch of schtick to me. A lot of his audio was hard to understand and distracted from the comedy. Seems like there has to be a mafia expert out there that doesn't have to disguise their voice....
