EDITING CREDITS BELOW: Hope this video will do for now, have a more ambitious one coming soon. ONE CORRECTION: DAVCEV IS NOT AN ADULT, HE IS 17, I DON'T THINK THAT CHANGES MY POINT THOUGH. Not entirely happy with how the audio came out in this video, which might mean it’s a tad off my preference for next couple videos. Also sorry if the filter on the third part is a bit strong, did ask the guy if he could change it but he’d deleted the files, don’t worry, he won’t be eating for a week. Also don't know why the visuals restart at around the 11 minute mark, please forgive me. I hope you enjoy the video nonetheless, had trouble coming to confident grips with the draft versions. The number one reason why streamers mostly lose in drama against youtubers is because youtubers have an indefinite amount of time to collect their thoughts and present them in an engaging and understandable manner. If you're doing the same thing live and on the spot it is far more convoluted and therefore easier to nit-pick and find mistakes or flaws in logic. TL;DR : KZbinrs have more time to structure their arguments than streamers, therefore they have an advantage.

But, honestly a lot of the hate I see she receives (mainly from the gaming community) is simply because she is a popular female streamer. A lot of the "criticism" and attacks people will throw at her are about her looks. And imo I feel like there are far worst streamers and public figures on other platforms that deceiver the level of hate and visceral Pokimane receives.

I was really pleasantly surprised to stumble on this video in my recommended feed. I wasn't sure what to expect from a channel called "The Right Opinion", but I found your manner and narration to mostly be pleasant and easy to listen to. As someone who hasn't really followed KZbin or Twitch drama before (other than long-after Reddit comment threads recapping the situation), it was great to hear what seemed to be a learned perspective on a complicated situation. I also really enjoyed how you didn't seem to have any condescension or malice in your analysis of the situation; I feel it would be very easy to take an aggressive anti-Pokimane angle, and it made me feel good that you chose to try a more objective presentation of facts. As someone who is new to 'the drama', though, I would have appreciated a little more explanation or hand-holding on specific information used throughout, specifically the main dynamic between commentators and content producers. I also feel that you reiterated several of your main points multiple times towards the end of the video, specifically your advice directly or indirectly to Pokimane on how to better handle similar situations with responses in the future. This was a great video to watch, but I feel it could have been up to 20% shorter without losing much of its appeal. Thanks for making such a great video. Hope to check out more in the future. :)

EDIT: Here's an edit for those of you who were in a similar situation as me, and don't want to read it all: The video actually begins at around 16:17 and that's when he gets into all the stuff my post here complains about. Feel free to skip ahead to there if you want to watch this video. If you prefer to watch a better analysis that's done properly and put together better... kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGWuhIyBbNKCa5o Use this video. It's 44 minutes long, so much longer than this one... But, it outlines everything to do with the whole controversy better. Now, if you'd like to continue through my comment to read my critique, feel free. :D ---- I'm sixteen minutes into the video. I have no idea what we're even talking about. It's been sixteen minutes of, "This girl just doesn't know how to deal with drama". Um... Okay? Who is she? Sixteen minutes in and I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT SHE'S ACCUSED OF. Oh, wait, now the video says. Laughing at a guy on Instagram? So, let me help you clean up your content a little bit. You need to put in there, at the beginning of your videos, of whatever you're covering, the explanation of what is going on and WHY it's going on, before delving into analysis. Why? So the uninitiated can actually follow what's going on. So those without their lives revolving around the topic you're speaking about, can get caught up to a basic understanding... in order to stick around long enough for your analysis. So, who will be the people who watch this? People who already know the drama, have already formed their opinions on it (and are thus only here for confirmation bias), and just want to hear you express really simple ideas in really complex ways (why the need to sound intellectual when you can express the same ideas in a third as many words and without repeating yourself multiple times... I don't know... but it sounds like you need some work on your scripting). I'm a very patient person, I got 16 minutes in before I was just tired of listening to the rambling and repeated observations. Most people aren't as patient as me. Most would've probably checked out at 3 minutes in, unless they were here for the "confirmation bias". I wanted to see "how a streamer turned a whole community against her". Sixteen minutes in... and... no idea. Not even an inkling of what she'd done. Look man, this is advice. You probably need to script better. Cut the fat out of your writing, provide explanations for people who don't follow the topic you're speaking on, and get to business and then stay on topic with it. So, now, I'm off to go find a different video that explains WTF the drama situation even was. Because, obviously, I'm not getting that here. At least, not without wading through a significant amount of meandering.
@tingeofginge88765 жыл бұрын
Agreed. TRO does a good job of being rational and neutral, but I had no idea what he was talking about in this video. He could probably partially fix this by providing very specific examples after summarising the issue in the beginning. Basically, if he were writing an expository essay (which is what this video is, really), then he would need to rewrite his introductory paragraph and work on being more concise throughout the rest of the essay.
@tyeberiusmcintyre18795 жыл бұрын
really this video is meant to be watched AFTER seeing all the actual drama, as it is all old news anyway
@XxTaiMTxX5 жыл бұрын
@@tyeberiusmcintyre1879 So then, why doesn't the video state, in the opening, "If you've never heard of this drama, this video isn't for you. You need to already be well-versed in it before watching this one."? It's the first I've ever even heard of it. It showed up in my KZbin recommended feed. So, if I found it that way, how many others would? See, when you construct an analysis of anything, you need to assume your audience doesn't know anything about it or what you're talking about. You need to open with your subject, why it's your subject, give a basic rundown of that subject, and then analysis. This is something you learn in High School English Courses. So, unless someone is a drop out, they should know this. It's even something that is taught in basic Public Speaking Courses in high schools (if you have them, even my small school of only about 150 students had a mandatory Public Speaking Course). I'm sorry you're so in love with the KZbinr that you see valid criticism of their video as a personal attack on yourself. I'm sorry it means you don't know how to be objective. But, I'm not sorry that you're here to prove my point that the video only appeals to people looking for Confirmation Bias.

@@XxTaiMTxX ...huh??? O.o this is the first video ive seen from this guy... it just seemed like one should watch it after having already known the drama is all... if anyones got SOME kinda bias here, i think yours just showed ::L
@XxTaiMTxX5 жыл бұрын
@@tyeberiusmcintyre1879 First video I've seen from the guy as well. I have no idea if the rest of his content is this poorly constructed or if it's just this video. But, seeing as how I had no idea what he was blathering on about for the first 16 minutes... Or what it had to do with someone getting turned on by their audience... I never found out. Still don't know if he ever reaches the point as I was almost halfway through the video and we hadn't approached a point yet. My bias is for people who can do things competently. This video was not done competently. The title itself doesn't even denote that you need to know anything about the subject before viewing it. It's a simple click-baity title: "How a streamer turned their audience against them". No mention of who they are in it. No mention as to when it happened. With that title, I expected this: 1. Who is the KZbinr who turned their own audience against them? 2. What did they do to do that? 3. How did the situation unfold and what mistakes were made? 4. What sort of drama was it? Criminal or just general douchebaggery? What I got in 16 minutes was... "Well.... this girl streams (no details as to WHAT she streams or WHERE she streams it... does she stream games? makeup tutorials? low-brow fap material to desperate men?) and some guy made a video denouncing her, and she responded bad to that (no details on what HIS VIDEO EVEN DENOUNCED) and then a bunch of details how people should be more reasonable". It sounded less like analysis and more like, "I'm not on any side and I also refuse to tell anyone the details of the situation... I just want to talk about how people should do research and be moderate in opinions". I mean, hey, if people want to do a topic on that, sure, that's fine. I'll sit and listen if it's well-constructed or interesting. But, it frequently sounded wishy washy and as if he hadn't even written a script at all. It frequently restated the same points with new language as if they were different points. I just have an aversion to bad writing and bad presentation. It can be fixed. Quite easily. So, I laid out the basics of fixing it. Which, is what pretty much every person on KZbin already does by default. Especially if they've got any sort of followers at all. It's quite strange to me that you think it's reasonable for a person to click on a video, realize they don't know what is going on, then click away from that video to go find out what is going on. Or, that you've got this idea in your head that a person should never click a video if they don't already know about it. Personally, I don't follow KZbin Drama. Nor do I watch streams (because they're boring as sin when people aren't funny. I don't watch someone play a game for their ability to play a game. I watch it for their personality or schtick... or because what they're talking about is useful to my own gameplay. Which means... I don't watch a lot of streaming as most streamers aren't... well... entertaining. At least not as entertaining as scripted gameplay or commentary over gameplay is). But, on occasion, I like indulging in a little bit of "hahhhh, watch weirdos on the internet lose their minds". However, this is the first video I've seen in which I had no idea what was even going on or what the situation was. Everyone else? Yeah, they tell you who the person is, what happened, and then break it all down and provide analysis. Probably because it's the proper way to introduce a topic for analysis.

Not malicious? Mmm. This is same girl, from 2014. Ended up on a stream after a League streamer hosted her (SirhcEz?) Had it playing on the side, but had to switch tabs when I heard the singing/rapping. This girl had her viewers donating to get into some Teamspeak, where they would have to perform for her. Would expect abit'a banter, but it was about as degenerate as you'd expect. Thirsty squeekers performing for a Twitch girl, hoping to win her affection. The vibe wasn't pleasant. She'd sit on fullscreen cam, pulling faces and snickering the whole time, all while the donation wars flowed and added their own commentary to the farce on screen. All directed to those _performing._ It was mostly tasteless memes and bad singing, but there was one boy who took it a step further. Made his own song and had his own lyrics. It was face scrunchingly bad. What was worse however, was how she dealt with it. There were no sides to take in this situation, but you just know, when someone's soul has been destroyed via public shaming .. Tuned in a few more times, after that. Seemed like the general quota: Bad League gameplay with no personality, followed by an hour or so of "Queen", where viewers would be invited to the TS and attempt to entertain her. Never tuned in again. But always remembered that name Pokimane. Fast forward a few years - she's somehow being promoted by Twitch; one of the bigger streamers on the platform, and is only _now_ coming under fire with weak controversies that don't even compare to the worst she's gotten up to. If there's one trivial thing that definitely hasn't changed from then, to now - it's her Twitch chat. Thirst. Don't have proof, nor clips. I imagine any and all who took part in feeding her ego back then, would be too ashamed to speak out. They shouldn't be. *I don't for one second believe, she is an oblivious, naive airhead, who has no idea how to play an audience.* If you're out there my guy, I hope you think back to that day and laugh about how silly it was. They'll catch her eventually. -sorry for the wall-

Why is this video 37 minutes long? Can you like start with an introduction to what the video is about, provide some split up sections, and then conclude it? I have no idea what is happening. There's clip art flying all over the screen, transitions every 4 seconds, people surfing in CS:GO, and text flopping around. The overflow of information is just hurting my brain. Cut some of it down, script wise and visually. If you're going to make video essays you should use the skills you learned in English class. I recommend Kurzgesagt or LEMMiNO if you want some inspiration. Of course, you don't have to do anything I said, and I won't feel bad if you tell me to screw off. Hope this helps.
