The Government has the right to control these corporation in doing illegal transaction in that mountain but they choose to be blind because they also gain profit from it. And from geographical context and the danger brought of climate change, the Philippines is prone to natural disasters, that is why it's important to protect that area at any cost.

The corrupt in Philippines do not care many of them the Dynasty Families tend to move and have more loyalties to Western Countries... They have their families in the USA for the most part... They won't learn until they realize... Drinking water disappears along with floods and natural calamities.... It is ridiculous making these SUBDIVISIONS for Elitist higher class Filipinos and foreigners when there is hardly any green space... GLOBAL WARMING + ALL CONCRETE does not make a LIVABLE place.

They are in bed with the corporations. The social and emotional connection between powerful people in gov't and the private corporations runs deeper since they more likely went to the same schools, partied in the same clubs, fucked in the same luxury hotels, married in the same churches, had vacations in luxury destinations, etc.

What happens here shows a common pattern in ph. Corporations land grab and exploit nature and indigenous and peasant communities for profit. Govt doesn't enforce laws or use its resources such as the military and police very much since govt officials themselves and corporations both benefit from these type of ventures. As shown in this documentary, the company has ties with the national police. It's common in the ph govt is used by corporations for profit, even some politicians own large corporations. When corporations break laws and occupy lands govt doesnt care but when it is the people or locals who assert their rights for land, hundreds of military will be deployed to repress them.

I think documentary makers didn't get time or resources to follow the money. Its _never_ one person or organization when corruption is involved. And just to be clear, these two women should be national heroes. I hope they stay safe but if they wont, most people will give them one sentence and that will be it. Those in phillipines or Brasil or anywhere else seem to think change is possible without sacrifice. It is not. And by sacrifice I mean to _any extent_ just like those two dare devils are doing. I would be so happy if next part of this documentary shows enough people in phillipines volunteer to help them.

"It'S mOrE FuN In ThE PhILiPPiNEs" well, if not for environmental activists, what's even the beauty of nature in Pinas today? Ann, Billie and those trying their best in preserving the forest are heroes. And I'm very curious how, when videos concerning the Philippines showed this side of the country few would watch and not go "proud to be proud to be proud to be". Obviously some would be ashamed but one should only be ashamed if these issues are ignored or overlooked.

The Philippine government should deploy soldiers or special action force of the PNP. They can't just rely on unarmed forest rangers. We should protect these kind of nature. What's happening up there is a reminder for us that nature determines our future. If the forest fell into the hands of the land grabbers and cut down those trees, it will be a catastrophe.

Where is the government? What is the government's stand on this? Where are the other Environmental Organizations? How are regular Filipinos supporting this cause? ---Also, BS on what was said about Dumagat people hiring the armed men (paying?) to protect their claims on the land. LOL. Funniest.
