In preparation for the Tet holiday, Quang Phu Cau Village turns a sea of pink. Villagers are making millions of incense sticks, used in spiritual worship. At one point, 100% of this village made incense sticks, but as demand fluctuated and younger generations found other jobs, many factories shut down. Today, there are only about three manufacturers of incense left in the village. Nguyễn Thi is one of them. To stay afloat, Thi mechanized much of the process and got his brand, Thủy Xuân Tiên, officially registered. We get an inside look inside his incense stick factory leading up to the Vietnamese Lunar New Year.

My mom, myself, my niece, and my sister are all Vietnamese and I can’t begin to say how big a smile I had listening to this. I wish we could participate in more Vietnamese traditions cause I always felt it was important but sadly it’s very far and few between cause my family is so far away.

My family from Vietnam and we also had our incense business, everything was done manually and I remember spreading those sticks out to dry was so satisfying. You just twist it and the whole thing bloomed with a light smell of bamboo. This is such a good documentary to bring back these memories :)

I'm from Tunisia (North Africa), my father LOVED these incense sticks I didn't know they were made in Vietnam! We didn't use them for religious purpose we just liked their smell. I think these products use to come to us via Lybia but now with the war happing there it's been years since the last time I saw it been sold anywhere in my country. just seeing the pink ones made me smile it brought back memories of my childhood. I wish them good luck with their business and I pray to God that peace can find its way to those who need it.

@@lucaslindseyJESUSBOY Hi! No I'm a Muslim. Islam taught us that Jesus was one of the five greatest messengers of God along side Noah, Abraham, Moses and Mohammed pace be upon all of them. We believe in his miraculous birth and that he was created without a father just like Adam. We have a whole chapter in the Quran named after the virgin Mary. she is an example for all Muslim women to follow when it comes to her modesty, patience and purity to name a few. and we do believe that Jesus peace be upon him did not die on the cross but he was ascended to the heavens until his time to return on Earth. Jesus never ONCE asked his followers to worship him but to only worship the one true God. but with time, his message was altered and corrupted that's why God sent a final message with the prophet Mohammed peace upon him, God said in the Quran that he will preserve these last revelations from any corruption until the last day of our existence. So my dear friend, I invite you to forget all prejudgment you might have about Islam and read about it and to open your mind and heart to the true and final message from God. the message that Jesus peace be upon him spent his life spreading: there's is only ONE true God.

I had to delve into why India stopped importing incense sticks. According to my research, both China and Vietnam have been exporting an extremely large quantity of these incense that drive down the market price at home. The government wanted to boost self sufficient economy and put a requirement that any incense stick outside of India would require their license (which they would most likely decline).

As an Indian I will say that .... India is having very good relations with Vietnam . We share culture , religion , history ...and many more things . At present day we are global partners ,who support each other in every platform , we stand in support in against of Chinese agression in south China sea . Vietnam is the one of the most friendly nation of india . But if you talk about trade ..due to corona pandemic India's trade with Vietnam is decreased .....but earlier it was increased by 25% to 30% .... Vietnam goods are good in quality , and have great demand in indian markets , according to this video stick demands are decreased in india , but at the same time we are buying more crafts of Vietnam.... India is impose very low taxes to Vietnamese product ....also india provides new technology ,also we are moving towards defence deals .....and many more things , India is major contributor of Vietnam tourism sector , many Indians go to Vietnam for travel and worship old temple . Once Vietnam was part of great India . So relation between India and Vietnam is stronger . Yes we both are suffering from corona pandemic but we will come stronger 🔥

Why did India ban Vietnamese incense sticks? This was not covered in the video :/
@Ass_of_Amalek
@Ass_of_Amalek 2 жыл бұрын
the fact that they didn't give the reason feels like it might have been due to toxic substances in vietnamese incense sticks or something like that. it could also have been a political decision though by the hindu nationalist government to boost either domestic production or perhaps import from a more politically beneficial country (maybe nepal makes incense sticks?). I'm a little confused since as far as I know, vietnam is sufficiently opposed to china to placate india. but maybe the indian government still sees them as too communist.

According to officials of Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC), the state's production of bamboo sticks for the country's incense industry fell from 29,000 MT in 2010 to 1,241 MT in 2017 as Vietnam (49 per cent) and China (47 per cent) supplied 96 per cent of India's total requirement of 70,000 MT round bamboo sticks per year. Videos like these will only show one side of the story because they are made for subtle propaganda. First they mention india restricted then later they say partially restricted. Then it says they only sell 80 tons now but only at the end of the video they mention that they make 40% more profits now.
