Interesting. Too bad this was never dramatized in The Clone Wars (since it probably hadn't been written yet). I wonder if any of this might figure in to The Bad Batch (in flashbacks?) and The Mandalorian Saga? This certainly makes Thrawn an even more intriguing character. I want to see that Cortosis Blade in both Animated and Live Action...quite the weapon to have in one's arsenal...wonder if Moff Gideon, Thrawn, a bounty hunter, Doctor Aphra, or Lor San Tekka, or someone else in the galaxy has one?

Interesting. One thing that has always bothered me is how cortosis is an excellent nullifier of lightsabers, yet it's only rarely used by those in the galaxy. Given its longevity, you'd think armies would be desperate to arm themselves with weapons and armor made of the stuff. But that never happened.

Cortosis was a VERY rare mineral, rarer than beskar, and extremely expensive to extract and refine. The old EU had it that there was only one large planetary deposit in the known galaxy and it had been destroyed during the Clone Wars (obviously tie in with this story), and that once it had been refined and forged it was impossible to refine again. Knowledge of other sizable deposits, like those on Hijarna, was quietly hidden away by the Jedi, for obvious reasons (the same way and reason that they quietly hid away knowledge of Myrkr and its native ysalamir).

Jedi are never smart. Another Chiss (in legends) beat Thrawn to this three years earlier. Sev’eere’nuruodo (Veeren) who was a child, mind u, was like to Jedi Nuru Kungurama “btw I’m pretty sure there’s a conspiracy going on”- to a point where she put a tracker on the Jedi’s ship and stalked him until she could speak with him (I like to think Veeren popped back up in 19BBY and dragged him back to the Ascendancy. Because even though Nuru’s a… unique Chiss… he’s still Chiss. And Chiss are very loyal to each other) Edit: now that I think of it. Veeren beat *everyone* to their conclusion. Got to speak to Palpatine about it and didn’t die as a result
