It's one of his big weaknesses and character developments. As Anakin he was cocky and would charge head first into a fight and rely on just his power to get him through. But as Vader, after his crippling loss to Obi-Wan, he was much more calculating in everything he did.

Grand Admiral Thrawn Anakin was already going down a path to darkness. And he had palpatine in his ear. I highly doubt an alien from the unknown regions he just met could have reversed it. Thrawn was good but it wouldn't have worked. Hell palpatine admitted to Anakin he was the sith behind everything and Anakin still didn't kill him.

Uche Nwaneri have you read his Legends counterpart? If not, I would highly recommend it. At one point in a book about his past- by the same author- he destroys a Lucrehulk battleship, two Munificents, and 12 Hardcells with only 3 Corvettes and 9 fighters, with no casualties. Later on, as a Grand Admiral, he becomes the only nonhuman in a anti-alien, anti-woman Empire. Then, in 10-15 ABY, he nearly conquers the New Republic- taking Coruscant with just one Star Destroyer. He was killed at the Battle of Bilbringi Shipyards, when his Noghri bodyguard betrayed him, stabbing him in the back. His lieutenant, Captain Pellaeon of the Chimera, would later become type final commander of the Imperial Remnant and its remaining 3 sectors and 2 systems, making a truce barely in time to unite and battle the Yuuzhan Vong.

The armor was for order 66, and the 501st, if the battle droids were armored with that stuff the emporer wouldn't have needed the clones. I heard the emporer ordered for the droids to have weak points put into thier designs on purpose, he didn't want the war to go faster then planned. And he also ordered less droids in production so they wouldn't be so numerous. Funny huh?

People assume Poe just did a prank call failing to notice Poe also uploaded a program to down the shields so he could shoot the turrets..... If you're going to forget things because of hate then I'd rather focus on the positives. Luke saw how corrupted and fragile the Jedi had become during the Clone Wars that they need a hard reset to turn back into 'grey' jedi, similar to Bendu that we see a bit of that with Rei & Kylo when fighting the Royal Guards on Snoke's ship. Lastly, Mark Hamil was forgetful (or trolling the Joker way) that he wanted Luke to be "optimistic" as in the Return of the Jedi while forgetting the fact that Luke was whiny and bratty in both A new Hope & Empire Strikes Back..... What Rian did actually makes sense and I go with him on that. Mark is simply jealousy that he couldn't get a continuation of the 'Return of the Jedi' with a creepy optimistic saintly Luke..... To me Mark is simply being forgetful while throwing a childish tantrum because he was reverted back into a moisture farmer type personality until showing off true colours to Kylo Ren at the end as a projection.

Nidhish: It was a start of an example of balance, not the definition of it. Also, adding "LOL" just ruins what you're saying as well. If you didn't say "LOL" I would have taken your last line more seriously. Anakin was close to being a "grey" with how the Jedi were treating him like an outcast while Sidious had to ruin everything by seducing Anakin into being Vader. Anakin in the Clone Wars at times showed "balance" while Vader did as well in the comics. They're very brief moments, yet they do count. Bendu is the perfect example as a balanced Force Weilder, for now, until something else pops up.

It wouldn't have made a difference, even if Anakin had listened to Thrawn's warning, see, biggest piece of the puzzle was still unknown, palpatine, and without knowing that Palpatine and Darth Sidious are, one in the same, it would have never, even come close to stopping the Sith Lord, also, Anakin was technically right, it was to infiltrate the Republic but it just so happened that the infiltration, was a long haul and was already in play, the soldiers were already in place, so, again it would have never even mattered at all.

When I was reading that part of the novel where Vader seemed to have or it together after all those years, I thought how he could see that the events the night with Windu wasn't a chance event. Being sent to the temple to kill wasn't some on the fly event. It was in the works back when he was Anakin. Now after almost 20 years, he's deep in it and it doesn't matter.

When you think about it and remember. Palpatine thought of nearly everything throughout the clone wars. Having these two sets of combat armors for his two forces were going to pretty much be the reward for whichever side that won. As Palpatine, in the end, didn't care if he had Droid forces to command or Clones. Unfortunately for the CIS... Dooku and Grievous losing pretty much signified he had no use for the Droid armies anymore.

Honestly if I had the info that attacks on Coruscant was very rarely successful, (implying the game the Old Republic cannon much maybe?) and with the properties of the inner weaving of the armor, I would have seen the exact same conclusion that Grand Admiral Thrawn did as well. The only possible reason I could see Clone Trooper Armor being modified in this fashion would not be an invasion, but a plan from the inside and of course Anakin, before becoming the Darth Vader we all known was nothing more than a foolish boy and could only see the threat from the outside, but never from within. Let's say I have enough experience of being stabbed in the back to know that was the purpose of the armor of that design.

I've always wondered whether Thrawn would have tried to save any Jedi if he had been present during the Purge. The Chiss were certainly aware of the power of the force as navigators in the Unknowns Regions, so not too far fetched. Even more, considering that female Chiss children were found to be more force sensitive but only on adolescence, an introduction of Jedi-force wielders could introduce a new force-DNA strand and possibly create more force sensitive males, and for longer past adolescence.

But Order 66 was a contingency order, not some secret Sith plan that makes clones want to kill Jedi on sight Hell, the Jedi were well aware it existed and had no problem with it until Palpatine called it in, which was an allegory of the Bush administration and the Patriot Act. This new canon stuff is confusing and I'm not really liking it.

Similarly, a secret microchip plan does not explain why it’s called order 66. Having order 66 being a contingency plan explains this by having 65 prior orders. The microchip plan chooses it because it sounds cool. I don’t mind the new canon’s existence, but the microchip idea was a bad retcon.

Thus begins a Alt Timeline where Thrawn figures out the Chancellor is a Sith Lord months before order 66. Whether he informs the Jedi Or keeps it to himself, I’ll leave to later imaginings. I’m pretty tired while I’m writing this.

I mean this is a good reason why the armor for my gray Jedi character is covered in this stuff and it's also the reason why my character always runs around with both a blaster and a slug-thrower alongside My lightsaber which the entire handle section is made out of Mandalorian iron and covered in cortosis in the handguard section as well so I can block with it shut off their lightsabers and/them down and if I need to block a blaster bolt my arm guards will protect me

It makes me thinking... Thrawn is (as far as I know) associated mostly as the greatest tactical genius of the Empire and a loyal part of it... so if he was so loyal to the empire, but previously didn't know very much about the plot, and kinda tried to warn Anakin and - in a way - defend the republic... so there is a question... why? What causes such a change of alignments? I mean he surely is smart enough to know that Empire and the Republic are two completely different things... or is he just this much of an opportunist, to don't care about the power change?

Sherwin Kaiser well, after his master was killed by a Sith, it's reasonable for him not to believe that red-lightsaber waver Dooku. But he might have believed Thrawn.

I think what's interesting is that nobody has done an overarching video examining the fact that the entire clone wars were an attempt to weaken not just the Jedi, physically, by eliminating their numbers slowly through warfare, but the actual light side of the force itself, by corrupting the Jedi away from the light. As they hack and slash through waves and waves of droids, it's easier to justify becoming more aggressive. You aren't inflicting pain, so is it even THAT dark if you let loose with your abilities? Especially in Anakin's case. IMO the clone wars prove to be his real training in the Dark Side. The entire Clone Wars series sees the guy pulled into being more and more aggressive. He even seems to feel enthusiasm about going into battle. By the time he becomes Darth Vader, he's good to go. Sure, he never uses force lightning, mainly because it'd fry his suit, but in the end, that doesn't really seem to matter. I know in legends he was able to use it, but I can't remember where or when he does. In canon, Vader just substitutes Force Choke. TL;DR Palpatine plays the extremely long game. I think that was one thing that Legends didn't do well enough, and that canon can do better.

Currently listening to the Thrawn audiobook. Guess I'll be back later. The early Pryce chapters were pure misery. The ongoing format of the whole book is Thrawn reaching absurd, nonscientific conclusions based on little evidence, but being right anyway because he's so awesome. Fun book.

PlagueOfGripes Didn't expect you here. I believe Thrawn knew that it was unnecessary for droids to have cortosis clone armor when numbers have shown to overwhelm even Jedi. He also realized that if one person managed to find about about a large infiltration effort it would all fall apart. So there must be another reason why they are making the armor of the enemy but even stronger...

Thrawn did not know about Order 66. He knew that Dooku was making cortosis clone armor, and he was skeptical of Anakin's theory that Dooku and Solha were planning an infiltration of Coruscant, but he didn't realize that the chancellor was working with Dooku, nor did he know that the chancellor was planning to have the clones spontaneously turn on their Jedi commanders. He simply suspected that Anakin's theory was off. Perhaps Thrawn even thought the Grysks were involved, as Alliances revealed that he was (correctly) aware that they were studying the Republic in preparation for a galaxy wide invasion. Thrawn is a genius, but let's not elevate him to Mary Tzu levels.

Did you interpret Thrawn saying the force sensitive children as being discarded when they lost their powers as Chiss murdering them? Some people I've seen commenting on the book was saying Thrawn used to be one of those kids but I didn't get the impression they were allowed to lived to adulthood, but Thrawns existence if he was one would refute that.

Ok but why did Thrawn suspect the armour was meant to protect against lightsabers, not blaster fire, if it dissipates the energy? To make the connection that Thrawn made he must have known that both sides of the clone war were controlled by the same power.
