Hey there fnaguitarplayer9, I've searched high and low to figure out how my choke was supposed to be. I just watched this video, and figured it all out, also learned that the last one to work on my Murray 10/30 was either standing on his head, or something and had the throttle and choke rods back-asswards. Got her all back together, and voila, perfect!! Thank You sir for an awesome, educational, video.... MrRudog.

Finally found a clear and well explained video on the choke linkage. My mid 80's 12hp B&S carb has been acting up (one of the very old versions with the manual choke lever, and no choke linkage). The replacement carb has the choke lever mounted on the rear side as you have shown. This video is/was exactly what I needed to find. (Even tho' I will probably end up rebuilding the original, at least I have a mower that runs again...) THANKS!

Appreciate the video more than you can know. My friend gave me his 30 year old Toro riding mower recently. Have it running, but it would only run if the throttle was set just so! Move it one way or the other and it would cut out. Anyway cleaned the carburetor yesterday and was having a heck of a time getting the linkage back on right. Hey, I checked out a few of your video's about these one piece carbs, love them, very helpful and got me through a lot. I do have one quick question. The oil breather hose that connects to the carburetor, while trying to get things set to run and my mower wouldn't run, it kind of looks like the might be/have been some oil getting in before the choke plate, is there something I should be looking at or what could the cause of that be?
@fnaguitarplayer98 жыл бұрын
+Charles Mccullick Appreciate that glad to help out! Usually oil from the breather hose is from excessive blow by (past the rings on the piston) forcing oil past the rings or to much oil in it, or, they have what works similar to a PCV valve on the valve spring cover, its possibly for that to be dirty or sticking letting oil seep through. Thats really about the only causes for it. Or if its been run on a hillside or turned over it will cause it to seep through as well. Thanks for Watching!!!

Hi, thanks for this video i was able to figure out the choke linkage. One issue i am having is engine won't start unless i remove air filter, i replaced this. I have a question I rebuilt a 19.5 hp briggs engine for my john deere lawn tractor. I've done this many times in the past but this time when it was all assembled and ready to start it didn't. All it does is back fire through the carburetor but won't start, just back fire. I have checked the values, they are good. I took the fly wheel off 3 times to double check the alignment but it was perfect.. Took the engine apart again to make sure the sprockets were all timed right and they were.. I have exhausted everything I know and gone over the entire engine over and over again and just don't understand what is wrong. I just ordered a carburetor solenoid for it thinking that was the problem but the more I think about it , I don't believe it is.. Any insight you may have on this?
@fnaguitarplayer97 жыл бұрын
Check for spark, I've that happen alot of times, if the flywheel key is good, valves are set, if you know the carburetor is clean, then its usually a intermittent spark on the coil, not always but if you have a inline spark plug checker put that on it and see whats it doing, if its just parking now and then you need a new coil. @fnaguitarplayer97 жыл бұрын
The only adjustment on most is on the governor itself, and you usually don't have to mess with that, the governor spring can be adjusted by the bending the tab its connected to put more/less tension on it. If that is what your talking about. thanks for watching!!!

Its a oil breather hose, or crankcase vent hose (basically the same thing as a PCV valve on a car engine). It connects on the back of the carburetor right beside where the mounting bracket connects to the carb. Thanks for Watching!!!

Mine has a lot of oil spewing out of it, what would cause that? It did not do that at first. After letting the engine run for about 2mins it started spewing out oil.
@fnaguitarplayer98 жыл бұрын
It could be a bad "pcv" valve, they don't call it that but it serves the purpose of one, or it could be from excessive blow by, if the engine smokes alot that is probably what it is, or it could be as simple as to much oil in it causing it.

Hello Friend just wondering you could help me find a "throttle slide" the plastic piece on the throttle linkage on a flat head? TIA.
@fnaguitarplayer99 жыл бұрын
Jorge Lopez I might be able to, give me the model type and code off the motor, i'll look it up and find a part # for it. Only reason i need all of that is that some slide vertical and some horizontal, it might be a different number, i'm not sure right off hand. thanks for watching!

I just purchased a nice Ariens YT1138 rider with a 11 hp Briggs. Engine runs fine at full throttle but not a 1/2 throttle or lower. Where should I troubleshoot first? thanks

Try adjusting the top mixture screw out, sounds like the idle mixture is lean. I have another video just on adjusting these carburetors. Thanks for Watching!
@denniscady22684 жыл бұрын
@@fnaguitarplayer9 Thanks I did just as you said. I adjust the idle mixture , closed the throttle and set the idle speed. Works fine. I've watched several of your videos already. One more questions. While air cleaner was off and the engine running as it should I noticed excess fuel in the area in front of the choke . Is that normal?
@fnaguitarplayer94 жыл бұрын
@@denniscady2268 Your welcome. Yes to a point that is normal, if its excessive and dripping out then it may be the float/needle valve not sealing good, and if it runs out when its not running then thats the issue as well. I have noticed with these carbs a little gas will sometimes pool up.

@@fnaguitarplayer9 I am was / am trying to get it back together to take to someone else to repair. I'd poured gas in the carb while it was attached and it backfired 3 diff times and caught carb and filter tray on fire.. I did get it to fire once or twice thru exhaust but wouldn't stay running. Any ideas ??, please?

I have the B&S 8HP Engine on my John Deere 108 Riding Mower that I am trying to Restore. But Missing the Carb and the Air Filter and the Housing, in this Video it's pretty much the SAME and what I need. Can You or Anyone here help me to get ALL the Parts so I can get my Engine running again? THANK YOU very much in advanced!

I need the model type and code off the engine just to make sure i get the right part #, because that should use the smaller one piece flow jet if i remember right. It looks identical but is just smaller. Thanks for Watching!!!

Honestly, it seems the O-line is not very cohesive and blocking very well. The receivers are not being schemed open when they can't shake their defenders. Also back to the O-line we can't run the ball. USE THE LUEPKE!! GET A GOOD TIGHT END!!

This video is exactly what I'm looking for. Any chance do you have a spare intake filtering system? I have the carb, but the filter is missing and I have tried to get another system from B&S and it fails. Here is the engine numbers Model 253707 Type 0206-01 code 86031911. This is an old B&S I/C Cast Iron Bore 11 HP Vertical shaft. I think I have everything else including the linkages and throttle bracket. Please let me know if you have something. I'm in Oak Hill FL.....
