Thanks, your the 1st person out of hundreds that actually show how the linkage is hooked up and that is what thousands of people asked. Even though people asked the replies they get besides those jerks are people explaining without a single picture, using terms that are not the real description, they explain as if they are talking to someone who would not need to ask because they already know. It's amazing how many thousands of people chime in to explain, I assume to let everyone know they are smart. When in fact they may understand how to do it but they are so clueless as to how someone would communicate effectively so the people they are addressing will understand. Instead all people get is a person spewing out nonsense letting all know they really need to just stay off the keyboard.

Wow, I've been looking for a video like this since last summer. My buddy came over and took the carb and linkages apart and when he put it back together the throttle was all opposite. Fast was slow, slow was fast and then he moved away. I liked the way there was no governor, but I can tell its burning oil and wreckin the engine. At this point I'm just tryin to get the linkages in, but all the holes and arms and springs make it confusing. This video was a godsend, thank you so much. Great video and thanks a million!

Just add me to the people who are thankful for you uploading this video. I looked at several videos about small engine chokes and Briggs & Stratton chokes and either they weren't working on my engine or they didn't go into enough detail. When I removeed my carburetor I didn't even notice the little hair thin spring that came unhooked from the carburetor. And when I went to put it back on, the little choke linkage with the long loop fell out and I didn't know how it went. So your video cleared me right up as to what goes where. Thanks very much.

Thank you for a GOOD explanation of the linkage...you confirmed what I thought was the correct way to connect it. Clearly you know what you are doing because you have done it many times before. @@fnaguitarplayer9 Hi, I have a question for you on that same mower if you can help it would be awesome. It is a 19.5 hp B&G with the single wire coming off the coil. So I'm assuming that according to you it would not have a condenser. The problem is after it runs for about 15-20 minutes it gets hot & just quits. I loosened the gas cap almost taking it off checking for vapor lock & it still did it. After it cools off it starts right back up & runs very strong without missing or anything. This one has me stumped. I found it & plan on giving it to a disabled veteran friend who needs a mower, but it needs to run without stopping like it does. He wouldn't be able to push it if he had to. Any thoughts? Ideas would be greatly appreciated. Please send them to psychofsw@gmail.com. Thanks.

Thanks, my tow mower was giving me fits, the electric fuel shut off which hangs off of the carb bowl fell off refusing to go back on. Another channel with a female mechanic showed how it works so I just eliminated mine with a bolt & some JB Weld. But putting the carb back on was ridiculous. But thanks to your explanation I fixed it easy. I just have to use the fuel cut off knob now. The lady mechanic said those replacement carbs were junk, so it runs fine without that electric fuel thing now.

Please explain/show where the governor spring is connected on a 12 Hp Briggs vertical. The throttle/choke cable from the dash comes up through the riding mower frame into the bottom of the throttle control plate and the 'slider' moves up and down. Thanks - Cal
@fnaguitarplayer98 жыл бұрын
If you follow the governor arm down (the arm that the linkage from the carburetor connects to) towards the bottom there is at least one hole for the spring to connect to, from there it goes to arm that connects to the mechanism where the throttle cable connects, it usually has a arm that basically turns instead of moves side to side, if you work the throttle control back and forth you should see the arm moving. thanks for watching!!!

Very nice video. the close up of the linkage and where to set engine full speed / choke is very valuable info. I have been searching for this exact guide so i can set my cable. Thanks man.

+KENNETH CUSMANO Appreciate that! There's not much info out there on the linkages. Another tip, if your working on something thats new to you, take a picture of it before taking it apart, I do that myself on something i haven't worked on before. Your welcome, Thanks for Watching!!!

i struggled a bit with the very strong American accent(sorry) but the video was very clear and easy to understand. I know now that the fault on my recently purchased engine is that the throttle spring is hooked through the same hole as the rod. Thanks again for such a detailed video.

Thanks for the great information! I just cold not get correct engine rpm on my old, worn-out 1992 Murray with Briggs 12.5 i/c. It would rev so high, I was afraid it was going to blow up. After watching your video, I quickly found and replaced the rusted/broken governor lever to throttle spring. I then adjusted the governor lever and mowed the entire yard. The mower has never run so well in the 3 years I have owned it!

Glad to help out, that can be very confusing, if i run into a motor i'm not familiar with, if i can, i take a few pictures of it, then if i can't figure it out i have a reference, but you can't always do that. Thanks for Watching!!!

Nice video! Have a snapper riding mower with a 10 hp Briggs motor. Started up after sitting for four years and gas shot out of muffler! Getting carb rebuilt and noticed on the carb it was missing one of the two screws on carb butterfly! Now got to see where that went. Not sure why that was missing? Father bought it new in 2002. Your linkage part helped me out a lot! Oh yes, got to now give motor another oil change. That gas shooting from muffler is now in the oil.

Thank u sir. Took awhile to find a video that shows how the automatic choke linkage worked. I’m not a fan of the crank me wide open set up either. Common sence knows better than that !! Thank u again

Thanks heaps, mate. I agree with you about not liking the idea of the choke coming on at full throttle. But I have no choice at the moment to set it up as manufactured as I don't have a spare old throttle cable. One thing I came across was when I first bolted it all up, I found the choke flapped fouled on the bolt on air duct. I loosed the bolts and wiggled the air duct until it no longer fouled on the choke flap. I then bolted tight the air duct in place.
