Tini Howard has wrecked yet another X-Men series. This time Knights of X is cancelled after publishing only 2 issues. Taking a planned ongoing comic series to 5 issues is a huge failure and nothing new for Tini Howard. X-Corp was also released as an ongoing and cancelled after 5 issues. Knights of X is Tini Howard's Excalibur X-Men series with a new coat of paint. Excalibur was one of the worst performing X-Men comics when it was rebooted. Other X-Men comics like X-Men Red and Marauders had huge #1 issue spikes. Knights of X did not. BUt Tini Howard claims this isn't the end of her stories featuring Betsy Braddock stealing the Captain Britain mantle. Wes explains how Tini Howard wrecked another X-Men series in 5 issues.

Words can't describe how much I agree. Been losing years due to depression after Marvel erased Brian as Captain Britain and Betsy as Psylocke. Never cared for the ninja doll so seeing Betsy lose Psylocke on racial agenda was the final nail. The best Captain Britain and Excalibur stories were with Brian by Claremont, Davis, Moore, Cornell. Betsy is best as Psylocke with the X-Men. The editors have no clue at all how to run the Marvel company.

Tini Howard is protected. She isn't going anywhere. Look how many times that she has failed. Do you really think that Marvel Comics is going to finally get rid of her as a staff writer? If they haven't fired her by now, she is never going to be. Good riddance. I was a big fan of the Claremont and Davis runs of Excalibur so it was hard to see the title fall so low. The dialogue and plotting was atrocious. Every character sounded like another, plus she ruined Otherworld! There isn't one X title I like right now and I'm a life long fan! This era is turning out to be the worst. Honestly there aren't really any writers I really enjoy at Marvel, maybe Keiron Gillian (im iffy on him) and Jeb McKay (but I only like his Moon Knight and nothing else).

This is one of the reasons I like hearing Wes's opinions ... Like he said .. yes Tini could potentially be a good fantasy writer BUT she is not a good superhero writer. Marvel really needs to rethink who they hire. Writing a "superhero" comic requires a particular set of skills. Similar to how a good fantasy novelist doesn't guarantee they can also write a good crime-mystery book. Even Oscar winner John Ridley making his Black Panther series unreadable.

I’m very happy that Tini Howard’s Knights of X is cancelled. Knight of X was completely a boring mess and a wannabe magic focused book. That not X-Men’s focus it never was. Sure, you have some plots involving magic and supernatural stuff. But that mainly X-Men fighting other superheroes’ villains who use magic for just one plot or fighting mutant villains who use magic for their goals such as Madylene Pryor and Selene. There are some X-Men who magic such as Magik and Pixie. Those are the only times X-Men deal with magic, which isn’t a whole lot to begin with. Marvel should’ve had a actual Excalibur comic, where the team is trying to make a stronghold in the United Kingdom for Krakoa. But knowing the current state of Marvel that idea will never happen, while there bad leadership and writers in the company. Let’s hope New Mutants, Immortal X-Men, Legion of X, and other Krakoa Era X-Men comics get cancelled to be a wake up call.

The problem was that Excalibur was created as a fusion of Charles Xavier's ideals with King Arthur's. Tini Howard's version had none of that. Betsy got the title solely to boost her self-esteem. She's not only a citizen of another country, but a diplomatic representative of it and immune to Britain's laws. Captain Britain is supposed to be the defender of Otherworld, but she and Excalibur willingly become lackeys of its invader, Apocalypse, killing their fellow mutants at his command. They support a mad usurper, oath-breaker, and murderer as king of Avalon. Likewise Saturnyne betrayed and usurped Merlyn. not vice-versa.

I have nothing against Betsy Braddock as Captain Britain since both Chris Claremont and Rick Remender (Betsy’s best writers) have actually made her Captain Britain in their runs. It is more like Tini Howard made Betsy suck as Captain Britain because Betsy had NO personality this time around. Betsy was actually confident, feisty, and sarcastic, and occasionally compulsive to kill, giving Emma Frost a run for her money on these traits, in both Claremont and Remender’s run and she displayed none of that in Tini’s writing! All Betsy Braddock fans like me are PISSED at how Tini’s portrayal matches Chuck Austen’s character assassination of Nightcrawler. She made Betsy Captain Britain but NEVER defined her power set ie what can this new Captain Britain do? She even rarely uses her telepathy or fighting skills! Heck we don’t even know what feats she can do, contrary to how Claremont, Gillen, and Remender, Humphries wrote her. she’s even playing second fiddle to Rachel Summers, a redundant telepath, in Knights of X! So much for her being a “powerful” telepath! Also, Tini can’t even write Meggan well! Gone are the days of her being a powerful shapeshifting empath! To me it's fairly simple, but I am baffled at how hard it is for some people to understand. If they have no success as a writer, drop them. If they only good sales they have is because it has a 1 on the corner, then it isn't success. Nobody goes and asks for the mechanic that is a diversity hire, not a good one, one that trans and half black/asian. They certainly won't accept that a repair didn't work, but they should pay full price because it was diverse. Somehow though we're supposed to accept it in other areas? No.

Hered the issue with outside writers, she left out their father, if Jamie acan bring back the whole Captain Britains Corps why not his father, who may be all the fathers to all the Braddocks in the multiverse. Today you read them and forget them in 5 minutes. Btw, scarlet witch was right with no more mutants. How many we have? Millions? Wich of those are important and how many are extras in the background like in a movie? I have the sensation there are more meaningless mutants than humans.

Why has writers like Tini Howard have been given chances, instead of them going for people that want to write comics, and I don't mean the pay, because look at mangaka a lot of them struggle so I don't think pay is the only issue.

I wish they would be more creative but given the current state of the industry, might as well be asking for blood from a stone. As much as bad tini is, for me steve orlando is a worse writer. Quit on marauders after 2 issues. The art on that series didn’t blow me away either.

I have disliked Tini's writing so much, despite the fact I've collected every comic Betsy Braddock has been in up until now, that I can't even bring myself to watch the video recaps. She's simply the most awful writer marvel ever employed, and she really really needs to stop. FREE BETSY from her terrible clutches and give her to some who actually understands the dang character.

Howard’s dialog is so beyond trash that it should have its own new word created. I wonder how different Marvel would be if a new rule was set down: every new series gets at least 25 issues then is canceled or renewed. If Marvel had to eat the losses of a series that’s dead after issue 5 then someone up the line would start taking what’s going on down the line more seriously. No more green lighting all this shit as an experiment.

there's no surprise to me at their rebooting this.. again. they've done the same with 'captain' marvel, mrs. marvel, america chavez, the wasp and several others whose sales were flopping. until they fire these people and get good talent they're going to keep doing this and keep failing.

I don't know ANY of the new names of the comic book world at Marvel Comics. With that said, DISNEY has COMPLETELY screwed up Marvel Comics in some way shape or form.
