Of all the things to pop up on KZbin's recommendations, THIS was/is the absolute BEST for me, as I had grown up with Tintin, and became aware of other lands & their cultures' with each new book that came out. The stories were entertaining, but the artwork was absolutely superb indeed! Fond memories, of a time long passed, but cherished so dearly. Thank you, for this upload, the newsreels were a nice back drop touch to each segment 🚶♂🐩🧔

I was very interested in this, but unfortunately there are constant sound interruptions.

Got to love that KZbin algorithm muting anything that might even remotely cause a copyright strike.

If the film had music that was copy righted you cannot play it without paying the owner’s price, whatever that amount is. That is the reason behind the interruptions. KZbin will not allow it.

I grew up with Tintin, read about half the titles aa a kid, rest as a grownup, which gave me an entirely new perspective on the story-telling and artwork. Was a step on my way to majoring in history. My best friend whose life tracked mine though we didn't meet until our 30s, tells the same story

Tin tin got me into reading. I wasn't very interested into reading myself at first. Pictures where enough to set my imagination going. But Tin Tin was different. I read all the ones our library had multiple times and from there went on to other books too. I was about 6 and have been living on books and comics ever since ❤

Marvelous stories with Tin Tin. I was once in Paris at the age of 9 and we visited a famous Venezuelan French Cinematographer, he spoke excellent Spanish but his wife and daughter didn't, they got out a Tin Tin's book of Peru and in French and Spanish we began a nice communication. That was in 1970.

For those people complaining about the sound quality - I'm a subscriber to KZbin and I'm not having any problems. I suggest it's something YT are doing when they insert adverts. Worth subscribing btw. I get to watch excellent docos like this without interruption, and there other benefits too.

Really? Seems to me they've just muted the sound when there's any mention of nazis so as not to get demonetised. I have premium and the sound drops out at these times.

I've read and enjoyed the Tintin adventures, but I didn't discover him until I was an adult, so no childhood nostalgia. Even so, while any art is to some degree a product of its time, I never realized just how much the Tintin stories were about the events of their times and Herge's reaction to them.

Just spent $350 for Prisoners Of The Sun Persian translated . TinTin adventures were very popular in Pre Revolution 1978 Iran. Some one needs to make a documentary on history of TinTin adventures published in Iran.

''Land of the Soviets' and 'Congo' tend to get a lot of attention in the early books - but there are equally interesting elements in 'America' (the American Indians pushed off their land for oil, the report of 44 black Americans being lynched, the attempted lynching of Tintin himself, the wasteful consumerism, the powerful gangsters, etc.). For all these observations, of course, it somehow doesn't across as a condemnation of the US - or as a negative judgement of Americans themselves. Instead, it reads largely as a European's matter-of-fact (and sometimes wondrous) reactions to different cultures and an exciting, immense (and still partially untamed) country.

Problem with sounds appears to be caused by a dichotomy between, self censorship because of the nature of the narrative presented and youtube monetization . I am a great fan of Hergé, read all his work as a young boy, except for the proto-pieces I read as an adult.

I had all French Tintin, Asterix, Gaston LaGaffe, Lucky Luke, and some Achille Talon to mid '70s. And spirous, 3, with Zorglub et le Marsupilami. Sound recording has many gaps. Very interested in his changing politics and research of subjects. Je vous remercie.

The history of Tintin is as I know after inspiration about Palle Huld who won a contest and as premie he traveled around the world. He wrote a dairy with is translated to many language. The figur should have been Jean Jules Werne, the nephew of Jules Werne
