1:49 that creates 0-tick pulse that lasts for 1 BED. It can't power pistons due to how pistons are scheduled when they retract. They update the base before the head, meaning the piston that retracts the redstone block (the power source) is processed before the piston you're trying to extend, so the line has turned off before the piston could start extending. The scheduling is reversed for extending a piston, so that setup works for a rising edge 0-tick generator 5:05 sure, but it won't reduce reset. It'll always still be 3gt reset 7:45 That is locational. The piston that is used for blocking the rep from re-extending is budded from the noteblock, and in some locationas it gets updated, making it push out the redstone block 8:00 that abccba setup is locational. When going from b to c, you need the extra piston for upadting (which you do have) but there is also a dust that can update the piston below it too early, meaning the piston c can't always extend. Fix for that, is just to run the redstone line where the target is, instead of the side. 9:56 There are so many things that are locational in that. Firstly you can't take an output from 2 sides of an updwards rep (at least updating the dust in a specific way). Also in you situation a to b is locational, because you need to power b with extra rising edge block event delay or you can update the piston b (that can get blocked from extending) with another piston if you use 2 pistons to update the downwards rep. Rest of the pulses should be fine. Anyway the way you use this abba reliably is quite complicated 10:43 Not good advice. The first 2 pulses can still be loc if you do it wrong (which you did). Also you can make all outputs reliable (in most cases) if you know what you're doing. It would technically always be reliable if you always have 1 in between the pulses and make sure the output you take isn't loc 11:18 what? why? 14:54 The singles can go on any block event. Also there are other ways of doing the closing. Btw I think it would've been more helpful if you explained how abbas can be used for the sequenze instead of just going over the order in which they (can) fire 15:37 you talk about the opening as if it's all 1 move so 0.15 seconds lmao. Just say which pistons go on move 1 (0s-0.15s), move 2 (0.15s-0.3s) and move 3 (0.3s-0.45s) and in what order Also saying stuff like "this goes on BED 1 and this on BED 2" doesn't really make sense when piston 0-ticking is alreayd 2 BED at minimum 17:20 well abccba to be clear. I think specifying that is useful for people who wanna learn how that works 17:24 that's just an abba lol 17:26 abccba Overall an alright video. I think you could've explained more as to how abbas and such can be utilized in doors, but it's good that there are more videos showing off the basic circuits

I always thought that every 0-tick piston door relied on 1 or 2 0-tick gens, which ran for the duration of the closing/opening, and had their outputs managed like crazy. 😅 Thanks for your 0-tick explainers, it all makes so much more sense now! I might try using them.

8:00 idk if this happened to anybody else but i tried making the exact setup and everything worked except the extension of the last block. I managed to fix it by switching the target block for the middle piston with a block that has redstone dust on top(talking about the pistons that shuffle around the colored blocks)

yea, the setup in the vid is loc, just push everything back one and then make the dust for the BED for the middle to be not running up against the side of one of them, just make it out one block, (target block, make it a block with dust on it) Its because the dust update order can update the piston before the BED does.

If you make the return piston a sticky piston, then there will be no visual dust update, but it still updates. I don’t know if that’s less laggy or not but yea, I found that.

in the 3x3 layout you showed there's three sticky pistons on top of each other underneath the folded double piston extender, how do you power specifically the middle piston?

in fact you cant just power the middle piston, you have to power them both at different "BED"s on closing and then for opening toggle the bottom one so that it does not fire on the first abba refire :)

In general it’s just practice and looking at other peoples designs. Also, the use cases are super specific so a video would either be 5 min going over like basic compacting and basic locationality, or 45 minutes long going over multiple designs of a single door and explaining the minutiae of every specific block and its placement in the door. In short, life’s about choices, make some. See what happens, see if it’s smaller, if not repeat.

A question though, would this work on highly populated servers? Is the behavior always the same for 0-ticks redstone or does it rely on ping?
