That way you can easily get almost any output that one wants with stackable it would output 1 2…9 based on number slots full but with unstackable it would skip 9 and go 15 maybe? That would satisfy everyone and since not many crafting recipes use unstackable or stackable to 16 not much would change overall

The Redstone community will never cease to both awe and inspire me. As a builder and explorer myself, I look to them to help provide the farms I need. And every time I go to look one up, I am immediately impressed with how much technical knowledge and tuning can go into these machines. I sure as heck don’t have the know how to make my own designs most of the time. But I am eternally grateful that there’s people like You, SilentWhisperer, and Mumbo who do have it and share the designs with the rest of us.

@terminalvelocityrunner2202 Жыл бұрын
@@smiggles8809 here’s my method of building, so lemme know if it helps you. (It’s a bit long) I don’t always start with a dedicated design idea, and most of my builds aren’t that professional either tbh. Much of what I make mostly gets their designs from a process of just looking at blocks in the recipe book and then thinking about where I could implement those or similar pallets. Like matching different colors or textures. Often, When I do have a starting idea, I first build the ‘skeleton’ of the build. The very outline like the corners, wall and ceiling frames, the floor plan, and decide what sizes the rooms and areas can take. From there, I fill in the walls, ceilings, and floors, before I take somewhat of a Lego master builder approach, and just place and move different blocks around as needed until to the build begins to fit a nice visual. Over time, the blocks I am satisfied with will begin to ‘manifest’ in a sense into the final design. I use mixtures of asset variants like lower slabs for floors to help prevent spawning, and craft some of the dedicated stone wall variants for inset portions (due to the thinner nature than a full block). The stonecutter is good for this. Last, once the rough outline is done, I just touch things up, like adding features (utilities, amenities, or functions where due), decorating (adding carpets, foliage, or QOL improvements), and finalize the overall structure. Ultimately, the building process boils down to what you think looks good, and experimenting with different blocks and building techniques to find what works for you.

An interesting by product of the crafter in gameplay is using immovable farms (like spawners and biome or dimension specific farms) and moveable farms (those you can build anywhere) and see how you can adapt them into a workable factory for as many items as you can. For example, you have a skeleton spawner, what moveable farms would you want to build on top of it to take advantage of the bones, bows, and arrows. Maybe a moss farm for the infinite bonemeal and many other bonemeal dependent farms. A dispenser farm too to reuse those bows.... now your environment tells you what farms to build from them.
@sspectre8217 Жыл бұрын
Great thinking but there’s better examples since moss block farms with a composter already produce more bonemeal than they need. You could use the crafter to make a beacon factory though but you would need to load all 3 dimensions for that but should be possible in singleplayer. The most useful would be farms to make redstone components and kelp block farms for infinite fuel.

Something I commented on the mumbo video about the new auto crafter is the idea of hooking a factory up to an item sorter so that it just sort of keeps a certain amount of everything on hand.
@Supreme_Dalek_ Жыл бұрын
I did a dumb while trying to design a super-smelter with infinite fuel. Way over-engineered it lol. Bamboo farm that fueles a kelp farm. Auto-crafts dried kelp into blocks. Dried kelp blocks then feed into tree farm. Logs are smelted into charcoal. Charcoal is fed into the super-smelter. I realized after building it that I didn't need the bamboo at all. I could have just diverted some of the kelp blocks back into it's own furnace so that it could fuel itself. And now that I'm typing this, I'm realizing that I don't need the tree farm either. The kelp farm already makes infinite fuel for the smelter as well as being capable of fueling itself. Oh well. A little overcomplicating in designs never hurt anybody. I'm sure the Germans would be proud.
@kevinjamesmartin4307 Жыл бұрын
Someone commented bamboo is actually helpful to hook up to the kelp though, not sure if that's right but if it is it's extremely easy to get bamboo planks to more than double your fuel output. If you use pistons to break the bamboo, grow them on mud with hoppers underneath, direct the hoppers backward to an up-facing crafter in line with the pistons, power it with an observer also facing up at the piston with a crafter in between. The first crafter can only make bamboo blocks, the other crafts planks. No comparators or recipe controlling is possible you just need the bare crafters. It's such an easy upgrade, 3 blocks. Everyone is very overcomplicating it with lecterns and sticky pistons and stuff 😅
@iVo42928f Жыл бұрын
One way to support both the slot blocked mechanic and detect if a crafter is completely filled is to have a two-stage scale. The first stage runs up to 9 and behaves as current, while the remaining 6 levels are governed by the fill level of the non-blocked slots provided that all slots are either filled or blocked. For example, a crafter with 6 blocked slots, one slot with 62 and the other two with 1 item gives a signal strength of 9 + 6*(64/(3*64)) = 9 + 6/3 = 9 + 2 = 11, while a crafter with 8 full stacks and one empty non-blocked slot still gives 8. In code form this would look like ``if slotsOccupied < 9 then slotsOccupied else 9 + 6 * (fillLevel / (64*slotsEnabled))``.
@trevorhaddox6884 Жыл бұрын
I've seen the crafter used as a number keypad as well as a counter, as it goes 0-9 when slots are used. If you use a compressable item to count with you can simply uncraft/uncompress to reset it.

I think it'd be interesting if it were 0-9 for the number of slots filled, and then if all the slots are filled, the percentage full would be projected onto the next 6 strengths (with disabled slots counting as totally full). So basically: if (full) { strength = 9 + fill_amount/total * 6; } else { strength = slots_filled; } That way you keep the useful "ready to craft" readings, but also have a way of determining how full the inventory is still.

If you have a 15 page book, it shows the number just like the crafter does, and is otherwise more useful (you can put skulk sensor, music disk, and even regular-container info for each signal strength). I agree that 1-9 makes sense when some slots are empty, but I think 10+ should reflect how full the emptiest slot is somehow. It keeps almost all the benefits of the current system plus it has some of the benefits of going to 15 and lets you see if there are extra recipes present so it’s harder to get slots mixed up in complex recipes.

Absolutely both of those. Put rams at the front of flying machines for an easy tunnel borer

I was making a factorio realm, and just as I was about start working on the auto-crafters, this update was announced.

Might be a bit much to ask but I wish husks dropped sand, and theirs other stuff as well that’s even less likely, like a block placer and breaker, or a block that can automatically trade with villagers, or a uncrafter. If all of that was added then a lot of stuff could be farmed on a mass scale

I agree with all of those. We have tnt but everyone knows it's not the best. Even if sand is farmable tnt is lossy. Might take awhile to get placers but it's an obvious gap

i like that it doubles as an automatic sorter. just put one of a specific item in, and only that item will come out. at least, that's what it looks like to me. i could be wrong

Now we just need something which is movable and places blocks so we could make factories which make even more factories

5:15 the redstone signal strength output by container(like chest hopper barrel ...) is related to the "average fullness"(in percentage)

I've made a large filtered storage ~80 items will be sorted with overflow protection and I left space in the chunck for a basic but 1block deep auto crafter system so that I get iron blocks instead of iron. If they change the output to14 it breaks

Now we need to design the ultimate redstone factory, one that crafts every single redstone component automatically. Hoppers, droppers. Dispensers, pistons, sticky pistons, observers, comparators, repeaters, torches, crafters. Etc.

I got a couple of challenges for anyone who wants to mess around with the auto crafter make a super smelter that takes your iron, gold and copper ores cooks them up and then crafts them correctly into the respective blocks have a gold farm that drops the ingots into a piglin battering thing and have the baters be sorted into correct chests

The crafter is literally the coolest block we've seen in such long a time
