An excellent tutorial thank you. The fact you address what is happening at the end and beginning of the round is particularly helpful.

This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you! A lot of brioche videos I looked at already had the brioche started and didn’t give the instructions for set up. I’m happy that you included the written instructions and a bonus free hat pattern!😊

Very grateful to receive your tutorial on brioche knitting. Twenty years ago we struggled by going to a library, or finding someone who would be willing to show you. What time we save by playing your tutorials. Blessed by patient teachers like you. Thank you for taking the time! God bless you.

Thanks for confirming the double yarnover at the start of a row. It was what I had done, but I was a bit nervous and appreciated the confirmation. I adore your stitch marker. Too cute.

Nicely done....I have just learned how to do the brioche stitch on the flat....so now I am going to try to do it in the round. I need to use the brioche stitch in the round to finish off my sweater neck....thank you SO much!

Thank you so much for this! I have been hunting online to understand the BP2tog part of the brioche in the round. I literally have started and ripped out my hat pattern 7 times, because it never looked right, although I was following the pattern instructions. After watching your video, I realized I wasn't doing the purl part correctly, as I was treating the yarn in front as already in front, instead of wrapping it around the second time. Thank you again!!

Great tutorial and clear as crystal! Just putting this here if anyone else gets caught up like I did when following along. I keep making two errors when not coordinating my sl1yo movements, resulting in what looks like a knit stitch with an extra "bump" in the front. In the next round, where the pattern should look like | \| | \| |... (i.e. a lone knit, then a knit with a yarnover "wig", etc), it looks like \| | | \| | (i.e. that I skipped a sl1yo). If I come accross this, I'll look to see if there's an extra purl bump "wrap" in front of the knit stitch. I found to fix, I'll sl1pwise, pick up that dropped wrap with the left needle, move the slipped stitch back to the left needle, and brk1 or brp1 in the pattern. Meanwhile, if I accidentally purled a sl1yo, I'll knit into the stitch below the purl to fix. I hope this helps someone if they got caught like I!

I had started working on a copycat cc beanie a couple months ago for my sister and tried doing brioche instead of robbing. I looked at brioche patterns and looked up a whole bunch of videos and just confused myself even more. In the end, but I messed up the beanie and wound up undoing the whole thing. I had just restarted it and came across your video and it cleared up any confusion I had. Thanks for a great video! It honestly made my day finding it and I’m excited to give one color brioche another go 😄

Finally - a clear demonstration on how to brioche pearl in the round. THANK YOU. But I have one more question. How do I determine what's the right and wrong side? I'll be starting the sleeve by picking up on stitches on the armhole of my sweater. How do I assure that the pearls face out? Hope you understand my question.

Thank you for this very clear video! I've been trying to do this and started over at least 10 times. I wasn't doing the extra yarnover at the end of the first round!

How do you decrease the top to close it up and finish the hat? I love your videos and have learned a great deal from them. Thank you.
@TheUnapologeticKnitter5 жыл бұрын
Hi Lily - any pattern you purchase should provide you with information on closing the crown of a hat. Decreases will all occur at different rates. I do have a free pattern available on Ravelry to make a DK weight brioche hat that might help you: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/b-to-the-three

Thanks for excellent video. My problem is that the yarn is too loose at the marker so I am gettting a ladder. It looks like your first few rows here had a bit of extra yarn at the transition. Does it close up as you continue? Any tips for this problem?
@TheUnapologeticKnitter Жыл бұрын
Sorry for such a late response! The "ladder" is pretty common at the marker - at least in my experience. I do find that with blocking it tends to even out quite a bit. And yes, at the start of a project for sure - the first couple of rounds is extra wonky. When I weave in my ends I try to pull the yarns a bit to get them to be closer to tension. And then use the tail to seam up any gaps that are left at the cast on edge. I hope that helps!

This is a great starting point - but only after you watch another video on Italian Cast-On. The cast-on stitches shown here are not the appropriate ones for a brioche knitting project.

Do you think I can do a 1x1 ribbing for an inch before I start your brioche knit pattern? Love this video. Thank you.
@TheUnapologeticKnitter6 жыл бұрын
SR949900 I don’t see why not. You’ll likely want to do it on a larger needle size because brioche is a looser stitch than standard ribbing. Good luck!

What brand knitting needles are you using please? Are they interchangeable? Thanks
@mfisher41183 жыл бұрын
I use Chiaogoo needles. This particular one in this video is not interchangeable but I do have an interchangeable set for needles longer than 16" from Chiaogoo. I found mine here: nitroknitters.com/collections/needles/products/chiaogoo-twist-red-lace-interchangeable-set-complete

Sometimes you yo sl1 or sl1yo , does it matter how you do this ? I’ve just gotten back into brioche and so far your video is the best .
@TheUnapologeticKnitter4 жыл бұрын
So long as your working yarn is in front when you slip the stitch, the order doesn’t really matter. If you are working a brk round you will have to move the working yarn to the front like a yarnover (between the needles). Then you’ll slip and knit / brk the next stitch. Moving the yarn to the back over the needle when you brk / knit the next stitch completes the yarnover.

Thank you for your quick response , that was a load off my mind , I think that’s why I stopped doing Brioche , It is slowly coming back to me , and thanks to you I’ll be able to continue . Fixing my mistakes is coming back also . Extremely thankful I found your video .

Hi, thanks for the video. Your instructions are very clear, if the volume is a little low. My only question is, is this for honeycomb or regular brioche? 👍

This is for regular brioche. And yes, I'm disappointed in the sound quality on this video but have rectified it in all of my future videos.

When brioche knitting in 2-color, I know to designate a BRP color, but when using only 1 color, how do you know which row (a BRP or a BRK) to start if you had to put the work down?
@mfisher41184 жыл бұрын
Since you don't have the two colors, you'll have to look whether the wrapped stitch is over a knit (or BRK) column (will look like V's) or a purl (or BRP) column (I think they kind of look like upside down W's). If the wrapped stitch is over the knit / BRK column, you will work a BRK round. If the wrapped stitch is over the purl / BRP column, you will work a BRP round.

Yes, for the purposes of this tutorial I just used a standard long tail cast on. A German Twisted or an Italian cast on are also great cast ons for brioche since they're nice a stretchy.
