I've gotten some messages from people recently saying that some members of the high level pvm community who do lots of Chambers of Xeric, mainly from the WeDoRaids discord, do not recommend this guide to people since it teaches bad habits and has some mistakes. I completely agree that this is not a perfect guide and there are some bad habits that I recommend (such as running to the other side of the room to reset the head). They also say that by following the method, you won't always get into the 4:1. This guide is no way an efficient guide. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who has a deep understanding of how solo olm works. I do disagree however, that it's a bad guide - I still find my method of getting into the 4:1 the absolute easiest way for beginners to knock out their first few solos. With the method, you can successfully complete consistent solo raids without ever knowing what's olm cycle even is. And as for the not always getting you into the 4:1, I've done over 1,000 solos and can count on one hand the amount of times that I wasn't able to get into the 4:1 off my first few attacks. So yes, the guide isn't perfect. But compared to the other guides available, I find it to be the most noob friendly and the easiest to understand. Once you've gotten better - definitely feel free to look into some more in-depth and advanced guides for perfect your solo olms! Good luck :)

One thing that tripped me up when starting that's worth mentioning is falling crystals, crystal bombs, acid, and flame wall are NOT special attacks. those are auto attacks just like magic/range. this is a great guide, although another suggestion i would make for learners is to use the metronome plugin on runelite. This is different from having an external metronome like on your phone set to 100 beats per minute or whatever (if you're a musician) because the metronome plugin syncs to your "experienced" ticks in game. So if you have a lag spike, the beat will delay a bit for example. This is better because an external metronome app would easily fall out of sync with the game after a short time due to ping variability. That being said, Olm's attack cycle is 4 ticks, so 4 beats = 1 cycle. Learning to predict which beat Olm will start turning his head will be critical for doing solos at all because the moment he starts turning his head is beat 1. When you count beat 1, if that's the same exact moment he starts turning his head, count 2, 3, 4 on the following 3 beats, then on the next beat (beat 1 of the next cycle) he will start turning his head again if you're out of his line of sight. You need to be tick perfect to do solo Olm, so being in sync with the metronome is the best way to learn tick perfection. Good luck! Side note for my fellow iron men, you can do this with rune crossbow, trident, dwh, and abyssal tentacle minimum. Preferably ahrim's, and god d'hide, and fighter torso. It may seem inconsistent, but the best thing you can do for yourself is do suicides (full inventory, five restores, the rest brews) inside the raid to drop supplies to pick up at least until you get better gear and cox prayers. You should still get about 24k points with this method if you don't die after the suicide. That equates to 3% chance at a purple. And remember, every 8k points on the dot is an extra 1% chance at a purple, this chance does not scale linearly. So 23,999 points is exactly a 2% chance at a purple, and 24,000 points is exactly a 3% chance at a purple. Therefore, it doesn't matter if you hypothetically get 24k points (with a suicide) or hypothetically 30k points (without the suicide), your chances at purple are the same.

As long as you are attacking on the correct tick, hitting a 0 won't affect your 4:1 since the head will only ever look towards its melee hand and towards the middle. If you are doing it correctly, you should only ever be attacked once per rotation!

Could someone clarify, what is the purpose of stepping away whilst attacking olm's melee hand? Are you atttacking the same speed with the DHL as if you were afk and on auto-retaliate? Or are you delaying each dragon hunter lance attack by a tick as you walk away?

Hey man, idk if you read these, but I've been trying to learn the 4:1 and I feel like my timing on tile 3 is always off. It's sort of like 14:13 (how your character kinda just slows down before running to tile 4) but without having started from tile 1. Is this just a result of me not clicking on tile 4 quickly enough? Another thing, the timing running from tile 3 to tile 2 is always off and I seem to either run off tile 2 too quickly or too slowly. I've tried enabling the "true" tile indicator function on runelite and click the hand whenever the true tile is on the middle safespot, but a lot of the time he just doesn't turn his head. Is this because I'm not on the right tick timing? I'm by no means remotely close to getting this, but these are just a few issues I've noticed I'm having.
@SoupRS4 жыл бұрын
Hmm, it seems like a timing issue yeah - try clicking a tiny bit earlier and see if that helps change anything. Sometimes Olm won't turn his head if you're melee attack hits a 0, can't prevent it from happening so that might be a reason why!
@fireestyle5 жыл бұрын
can you do this but for Obor? i keep dying

Why does Olm sometimes use a auto attack and a portal attack at the same time?
@nic59763 жыл бұрын
Hey soup, at 10:22 when you're talking about fixing the cycle from lightning, olms head turns to the middle before you had run to tile 2. What do you do to fix that?
@jamesphie73393 жыл бұрын
Hey there I'm not Soup but just recently learning solo raids myself so can help with that. His head has a chance to turn to the middle if you hit a 0 on the hand. What it means for the 4:1 method is that in those situations where you hit a 0 you may tank an extra base attack as your run to tile 2 is not going to skip that base attack. Your run to the ring finger will still skip the special though, so it's worth just continuing your normal 4:1 cycle and not adjusting anything. The solution is just to have best weapon/stats/prayers possible to hit minimal 0's.

@SoupRS4 жыл бұрын
What part are you having the most trouble with?
@Dislob4 жыл бұрын
@@SoupRS I have the most trouble with knowing where I am in the cycle. It's easy to set-up the head when maging and just avoid all attacks but for the melee hand, I need to know where I am in the cycle to properly do a 4-1. And since i'm still newb at solos I misclick and lose the timing so I end up overwhelmed and dont know how to react. I believe that meleeing 1-0 is my best bet as long as I'm not completly familiar with the attack cycles. I know It all comes to practice but the learning curve is so harsh. I have so much respect for those who can master such a feat.
@SoupRS4 жыл бұрын
@@Dislob It's definitely a harsh learning curve, but not worth giving up! The biggest thing I can maybe recommend is learning 1 step at a time. To start off, focus on what Olm attacks you with when setting up the 4:1. There are only four things that can happen when setting it up, so take it 1 at a time. If you want, you can always get to the 3rd phase of olm then constantly reset the melee hand to keep practicing

@@SoupRS Thank you for your help man. I managed to do do some 4-1 yesterday without messing up much. I don't struggle as much with the cycles anymore. Exactly what Brandon said, you technically don't have to stand still while auto attacking. Just make sure you aren't missing any ticks. If you're efficient, between 6-8 doses. If you're learning, it's safer to bring at least 12.
