Thanks for posting...This helped my rebuild! Two points that were glossed over - 1) The throttle body + air box boot are horrid to re seat! 2) Remember to wind out the cam chain tensioner when re fitting it (Unless you've got the tool to lock it).

Great video! I have a 16 as well going to be doing a top end rebuild and make sure my valves are in spec! Only question I have is how the rings go on the piston. As well as where did you purchase ur top end kit and what brand! Thanks looking forward to hearing back!

If it’s 2010 or newer it’s not a choke it’s high idle switch
hello my friend congratulations for your video, i am brazilian i have a 2008 crf 250r, i have the following problem: When I run at high engine speeds she throws a lot of gear oil out of the gasp, why does this happen since the engine has 2 separate crankshafts, can you help me? Thanks
@carsonbarasha92383 жыл бұрын
I would recommend replacing your gaskets where it’s throwing the oil from, if there’s any gaps the crank case pressure can throw oil through those gaps, hope that helped. Also if the crankcase pressure it very high that can indicate too loosely gapped piston rings which allows combustion to get by the piston, rings and a piston are fairly cheap and should help with the issue

Does a 2007 crf250 have nikasil on the cylinder walls?
@David-lx6yc3 жыл бұрын
yes
@gottdirtt5 жыл бұрын
So you just installed the cylinder without deglazing it? If you didn’t deglaze the cylinder your rings will not seat in. It’s really easy to do if your cylinder was in good shape like like you said.
@rprokopow4 жыл бұрын
That would be if his cylinder was glazed. His cylinder still had plenty of cross hatching so no service would be required there.
@carsonbarasha92383 жыл бұрын
@@rprokopow yep, if the crosshatching was gone or wear was uneven i would’ve honed out the cylinder walls but it was still in great shape and didn’t need it

How often should you rebuild the top end on a 250r
@David-lx6yc3 жыл бұрын

@halroy96103 жыл бұрын
Manufacturer spect is to replace the piston every 10 to 15 hour's. Depending on how you ride. Race 10 hour's woods ride 15

@@halroy9610 are you on crack? on a 2 stroke yeah, on a 4 stroke no. you can easily go 60-70 hrs if not racing on a 4 stroke. and if you are racing then maybe you're right, not too sure tho

I know this is an old video but couldn't you have used a magnet to grab the clip instead of draining the oil and removing the cover at 15:15?
@carsonbarasha92383 жыл бұрын
I tried to but the crank weights made it near impossible to get it out and it was easier to just take it out of the screen.

Piston and rings just because the old ones were worn out or was it seized up at some point??
@carsonbarasha92385 жыл бұрын
Robbie Tucker it just had around 80hrs on the top end, just a bit of preventative maintenance
@jondoe46673 жыл бұрын
I'm doing the same to my 15 right now. If you wait until it blows up it will cost 4 times as much to repair because it will usually hurt the head, calves, and cylinder.

Did you have to hone the cylinder?
@jondoe46673 жыл бұрын
You should hone the cylinder anytime you do piston, or rings, or both. If it still has decent cross hatching you don't absolutely have to but it's always a good idea.
@carsonbarasha92383 жыл бұрын
@@jondoe4667 correct, it’s always a good idea to hone the cylinder when doing a top end but i didn’t have a cylinder honer readily available and the bike only had 60 hours on it since new and the cylinder was in great shape so i didn’t feel the need to do it, hope that helped
