none of us have 2 step yet looking to install ecmlink but the rear diff cover is what takes most of the punishment, i would actually sugest a welded center diff with the viscous coupler to make it even more solid and the rear diff bracing of course or a different rear diff entirely, like mazda fd3s or a nissan r200 if you plan staying rwd a different diff would be better option though the stock one has been used in many drift events without problems but it really is at your own risk

+nigel R basically we are replacing the stock viscous coupler that transfers power front and rear making it 100% lock center diff with a shep racing viscous coupler eliminator so when you take the front axles off the power can still reach the rear wheels without blowing up your transmission

Here's what I don't quite understand, is it necessary to destroy the front axles instead of just leaving them as they are and putting them back. Is it necessary to take them apart or can you just leave them as is and put them back.
@TalkTime48 жыл бұрын
well adding the viscous coupler eliminator what it does is it locks the centre diff, if you leave the axles in you will be awd still, but worse because your front and rear wheels will always turn at the same time, you need to remove the shafts to get rwd power only, the front still spin but wont explode your centre diff where if you don't install the VCE then you will explode the centre diff, hope this helps? and anyways brand new axles for the front are about 70-100$ so it's no big deal, I had extras and swapping out the two axles with the VCE is a 45minute job at most
@MultiKtiger8 жыл бұрын
I doubt you can use this for an evo 7 and up. Youd probably have to weld the centre diff, thanks for the quick reply.

still going strong and magnus motorsports makes a transfercase eliminator so it's like 1000X stronger plus the bigger shaft on the transmission 3 year old protoype secret weapon. Want to hold that DSM or evo 1-3 transfer case together. Oh you bought the big shaft but keep stripping the gears? This is the affordable solution. Complete bearing housing eliminates Tcase housing flex and stops spiral gear from trying to exit the housing. Contact us for availability.

@@TalkTime4 did you weld the center diff for true rwd or na? I mean I guess cus your evo didn't have AYC you didn't have to worry about that did you? I want a true rwd 0/100 in the evo x
@TalkTime43 жыл бұрын
@@Lebigmacrules in the evo 1-3 the viscous coupler is directly linked to the center diff, locking the viscous coupler is the same as welding the center diff, this works great to split torque 50/50 front rear on a drag car

I would have put in a 95+ Toyota supra TT 6-speed Getrag transmission, and changed the engine orientation. Or any transmission that mates up with a Small Block Chevy engine, there are bell housing adapters. If I were going to use the stock transmission, I would have gone to the junk yard and found trash CV cups, and just popped those guys in there. But Like I said to the OP, you need a welded center differential if you plan to use the stock transmission. Only an idiot would do it any other way.

You damaged the the viscous coupling. You clearly didn't do any research before doing this "mod." It's not enough that you put it back, the fact that you did this in the first place is a travesty. Like I said before, you clearly don't understand what you did. Therefore, no one should listen to you, or copy what you did. The only proper way to do this "mod" is to change out the viscous coupler with a welded center diff, or a different transmission. Anything else can destroy the transmission.
