Me and my buddy Pisarski decided to convert our eve's rwd, now this rwd mod is completely reversible so enjoy, any questions likes would be greatly appreciated thanks guys
why rwd?
well my reason
better fuel economy
more fun = burnouts and drifting
DRIFTING :D
being able to tow my car with a two wheel dolly
i only drive my evo in the summer so rwd is all i need, plus i can make it AWD with only some new drive axles and putting back the stock viscous coupler so not really bad, so enjoy!

Yoo for the 4b11t gsr evo x how would you do this? Weld what part of the center diff or where you would need to in order to split the torque to 100% to the rear? In trying to figure out how to do this to a 4b11t evo x.

The only way to split torque to the rear only would be to rotate engine 90degree and put a rwd transmission on, check rwd_evox on instagram, he did this with his evo x, pretty cool and well done, by welding center diff you’re just ensuring that the front and rear wheels spin together, kind of like welding a rear diff to lock both wheels together, just so when you remove the front axles the transmission isn’t trying to send torque to the wheels with least resistance because if you just delete the front axles the center diff if not locked will try to send power to the front wheels as there is no resistance, it could work to drive around but centerdiff would endup exploding eventually, best bet is weld center diff, remove front axles and send it, you wont notice 100% torque or 50/50 split as the rear end will be easy to kick out and break traction, hope this helps

Also I don’t believe it would only be 50% of the torque it would still be 100% but to both front and rear at the same time

@@TalkTime4 so you suggest removing the front axles like you did in the evo 3 and welding the center diff. Im looking to be able to do some drift events and still be able to go back to awd later if I want to but I dont mind having a welded diff chirp or ruin my tires. So if you suggest removing front axles and just sealing the inner shaft of the axle and using the other end of the axle to just seal the wheel bearing and weld the center and rear diffs that would make for a decent drift car obviously after getting possibly an angle kit. If that would work on the 4b11t gsr transmission what would I have to do so the center diff doesn't explode on me or the rear driveshaft taking too much stress. I guess you could say I dont mind it not being 100% torque but I want it to feel like I'm driving a rwd car so I can take her sideways on drift events

@@TalkTime4 thanks for the help btw its definitely a plan while I have the motor trans and transfer case out of the car to weld up the center diff and set up for rwd run the car rwd I wont be losing half my power/torque atleast thats what im hoping

Oh it will definitely feel like a rwd car haha, i personally would get a second trans as a rwd and just go back to the standard one when you want to go back awd, im unsure how the axles work on the evo x, on the 3 the trans side has a c-clip on the axle stub so it can’t just pop out of the trans and on the other side the axle bolts to the block

If the axle shaft falls out how do u recommend i keep it from falling out at a high speed

Elite_ Shadower_ well the axle stubs are bolted through the hubs so you shouldnt loose those two pieces, the one side going into the transmission is bolted to the block and will not go out, and the other side of the transmission is held in by a c-clip and physically can’t just falloit unless your axle’s c-clip is gone but I’ve tested this to 160-180mph no problems

hey sorry hadn't seen the reply, shep used to make it, I don't know if he's still making them, you can also open up and weld the viscous coupler, it's the same thing pretty much, or open tranny up and weld the center diff

Is it necessary to run the outer end with a axle nut? or can we just send it with the inners only.

Hey, you definitely need the shafts in the hubs on the wheel side or your bearing wont hold together

Im from LA, but I'm looking to get a rx7 now and do a 1jz swap big turbo build. but if I cant find a decent rx7 for a good price, ill just keep my eclipse gsx and see about turning it RWD

I can't imagine it'd be harder on the trans, the same amount of power is being transferred either way but in this case there's less traction, so it should be easier on the trans itself. The transfer case, driveshaft, diff, and rear CV axles on the other hand, it'll be very hard on all of them. The transfer case and CV shafts are most likely to go, then the driveshaft. There are DSMs in the 8s with stock rear diffs, so I wouldn't be too concerned about that if this is making 400 whp or less.
